Wondering what others think of the price. It passed at auction last week for $800, and was re-listed as a Best Offer with $700 Buy-It-Now.

I don't know--it's a semi-key cover, but seems like a consolation prize relative to some pre-Unity covers or pages by key artists like BWS.

For reference, I bought the Chaos Effect Alpha cover (also on eBay) for less.

While I wouldn't call either a key cover, I'd call Chaos Effect more significant. Out of curiosity, what did you pay for the Chaos Effect cover?

For a series that never really has many fans talking about it, $550 seems a bit high to me. Other than it's a number one issue, the only thing special about it is the fact that it contains a lot of main characters.

My mistake. I checked my records and I paid just shy of $600 for the Chaos Effect Alpha cover.

Still a chunk of change for essentially a minor key, but a few years ago slabbed copies of the red variant alone went for almost that much. Also, the fact the artists were Jurgens-Ordway (rather than St. Pierre, as with Secret Weapons), helped.

The covers to Secret Weapons # 2 (wrap-around, and the current image on the front page of this site) and # 5 have also been available on eBay forever, overpriced at $2,000 and $479 apiece.

I'm still trying to get a handle on what various VH1 covers should cost, in this pre-reboot but post-Dark Key cancellation period.

And for reference, I didn't win the Secret Weapons # 1 cover. I'm just trying to gauge whether it was "worth" $550 (acknowledging that it was in no way worth $700).

From what I could gather, non-key 3rd-tier post-Unity covers (like those of HARD Corps, Armorines, Timewalker, Psi Lords), go for about $150-$300, but I have no idea what pre-Unity (or--god forbid--Frank Miller Unity) covers would go for.

I saw the original sale and thought it was too high. I didn't see the re-list but I probably wouldn't have lowballed at $550. I probably would of bought it at that price however. It is a nice cover and nice art with a lot of main characters as Daniel said so I think it's a fair price. I would of paid it.

I don't know if it's being reflected on this level, but I believe original comic book art prices have been strengthening since the recession hit.

I hear ya it would *SQUEE* me off if a cover to an issue I own 5 or more pages too was sold and I didn't even know it. But know it and thinking about it when it's right on your screen and not pulling the trigger is even worse.
