Not sure what happened with this one. First post unity book but the dip is already felt.
Laphams art suffers a little, probably because he's scripting too.
The dialogue is noticably different. Not as sharp as shooters but good enough.
The plot is also weak. Nothing really happens to the kids as the HARD Corps prep. I understand the desire to build tension but I think Shooter would have given them something to do. Something which we would have wanted resolved before HARD Corps struck making thier actions that much more tense.
The baby scene was not as striking as I had hoped. In fact it felt below adequet. It resolved the issue for the audience but pete and kris were too easily satisfied. By the way thanks for all the answers in the questions thread I posted guys.
How can Pete get a job under his real name, surely Harada would be watching for paper work like that?
I'm not a fan of the real world pictures mixed with art. Takes me out of the story.
Shatqua seems kinda lame to me. Like a Marvel attempt at PC and edgy all in one.
The hard corps attack feels restrained on both parts. If sting thought they were with harada he should have really nailed them.
I give it a 6. Its average. feels like they streched out a prologue to let us take a breather after unity. Would have been fine if these were coming out today, but with the knowledge that every book needs to take its chances because we only have so many before Valiant turns to *SQUEE*, a reader can get frustrated.
