Solar cancelled?!
Dynamite has pulled their solicits for Solar 7-10.....they still have them for Turok and Magnus up to issues 10. Looking like the gold key revival is kaput. Not gonna bother with furher issues.

It just looks like the new dates for those issues are TBD, unless I'm missing something.

Re: Solar cancelled?!
I was getting the 1:200 signed DF variants for less than $20 shipped. I think I got one for $10 or something. Ridiculous. At that price, if you're a Magnus or Solar fan, why not?

Re: Solar cancelled?!
These are Diamond orders, they've (Dynamite) withdrawn orders for issues 6-9, they haven't for Turok ( through 10 at least) nor Magnus (again, through issue 10 at least); so there's something definitely wonky going on, at least where Solar is concerned. They aren't even bothering with a resolicit for a later date, just TBD now, Ive seen that before with Lone Ranger, Mark Waid's Green Hornet, The Green Hornet etc. Usually (always in Dynamites's case) portends bad things, end of a title. They did similar thing with Doc Samson man of Bronzejeremycoe wrote:It just looks like the new dates for those issues are TBD, unless I'm missing something.

They also released new solicits for 7,8,9 with ship dates
11/5, 11/19, and 12/17 respectively. (per my LCS)

Seems like they are just falling into standard Dynamite holding pattern of getting late. There is a trade for the next Dresden Files comic that was delayed a monthAomalle27 wrote:They also released new solicits for 7,8,9 with ship dates

I read Solar #6 last night. It still feels like a poor mans Firestorm at this point but at least it's starting to feel a bit more fun.

Re: Solar cancelled?!
Solar is way better than Firestorm. The last two issues have been really good, and the art has been superb. Firestorm was the worst of the new 52, and that's saying a lot, because most of the new 52 has been dreck.

Agreed.StarBrand wrote:A poor man's Firestorm is not good.
I didn't particularly love the nu52 version of Firestorm either but for my money it still wasn't the worst of the nu52. I'd have to give that honor to either Superboy, Green Arrow(it turned around), Hawk&Dove(Liefield) & Mister Terrific. In just 3yrs it's hard to think some have already forgotten about how bad these were.

Re: Solar cancelled?!
Magnus & Turok are officially cancelled at issue #12 in February, I'd assume Solar will be cancelled at #12 as well in March.

Re: Solar cancelled?!
So if Solar, Magnus, and Turok are cancelled, what are the chances of Valiant requiring the licenses for them?
I also find it kind of odd that both the Dark Horse and Dynamite runs for these characters have been so short

Slim to none. VEI has stated they're not very interested in licensing characters, only owning them outright.omega_override wrote:So if Solar, Magnus, and Turok are cancelled, what are the chances of Valiant reacquiring the licenses for them?

Re: Solar cancelled?!
Beyond slim, it's a ZERO chance they will license them. And while Dinesh has said they are pleased to grow the original characters they have(and they are doing a 95% great job w/that, looking at you Shadowman) I feel most would welcome back the GK3 into the fold if they could be wholly acquired and owned by VEI.omega_override wrote:So if Solar, Magnus, and Turok are cancelled, what are the chances of Valiant requiring the licenses for them?

I continue to hope that one day I will be tremendously surprised to turn to the last page in a valiant comic and see a splash of Magnus with a hint of all sorts of kick *SQUEE* things to come.Captain Craig wrote:Beyond slim, it's a ZERO chance they will license them. I am happy to see this is over. Leave them in the rose colored glasses of Valiant past. VEI does not need them. Let's continue on!

Re: Solar cancelled?!
True. They might have worked if VEI kicked off the relaunch with them, to give the new line some instant momentum. But at this point they're unnecessary.Ramses818 wrote:I am happy to see this is over. Leave them in the rose colored glasses of Valiant past. VEI does not need them. Let's continue on!
In fact, with the two recent relaunches of the GK3 properties that crashed and burned, they could actually be a drag on the company. If there was really a readership for those two properties worth having, one or the other of those relaunch attempts would have worked.
You can throw Shooter onto that pile, too. Great in his day, now he's unnecessary.

Re: Solar cancelled?!
Yeah, I think DIVINITY can make people forget SOLAR was ever part of Valiant. It's already halfway there considering SOLAR series has been canceled by two different publishers.jmatt wrote:True. I also agree with you that the this Valiant needs to be free from previous creators. I mean Jim Shooter was great for previous era of Valiant, but he holds no relevance to this era. I don't mind tributes and homages to creators, but I don't think this whole Q2: The Return of Quantum & Woody experiment with Christopher Priest and MD Bright are doing any good. Valiant can't afford two Q&W series. It's not doing them any favors, it's confusing the readership that has never read the original series. I'm willing to bet there are more new readers than old readers for the current version of Q&W.
This experiment, while it was nice to hand them the keys to the characters, it was nothing more than fanservice to both the old readers, and more specifically to both Priest and Bright. It was like Dinesh giving them a handjob and saying "Look I treat creators really well by giving them their own title, even though I own the characters outright. I'm a really nice guy...come work for me"
There was absolutely no financial gain in this, utter complete waste of time and money.
