I wonder if they're releasing Solar 8 and Turok 3 on the same week as Buffy Season 9 #1 on purpose.

I read # 7 the other week, the origin story is quite good. The main story was...meh...but the origin story had a much more serious tone, better dialogue and nice artwork

Is it a split issue? Half origin, half main story?hulk181man wrote:StarBrand wrote:Dr Solar #8 is scheduled to be released on September 14th. I'm greatly looking forward to reading it!

Hasn't Shooter ever heard the phrase "You can never go home again"?

Of course he has. That's why the origin story is in the back of issues 5 to 8, not the middle of issues 1 to 10.400yrs wrote:Is it a split issue? The origin story does seem awfully familiar, though.

Yup, Turok 3 and Doctor Solar 8 are both on tomorrow's Diamond List of books shipping this week.
Looks like I'll have to stop by and pick them up.
I'm sure the lateness won't hurt sales though, right?

Re: Dr Solar #8
Got both Solar 8 and Turok 3. Loved both of them to death even if Turok took a hit on the art because they had replacement artist doing a rush job (still looks decent, all things considered, love to see what the artist could do a normal day). The ending for Solar was great, it's just awesome seeing characters with that type of power level go at it, especially using "hard science." The questions from the sub-plot in Magnus #4 weren't answered, though we get do some possible ideas of how it might have happened, if not why.
Looking forward to the last two books off the current plotlines and (hopefully) an indication on what (if anything) we can expect next from the line.

I agree with the comments on Solar 8 and Turok 3. I enjoyed them but still bittersweet knowing they should have been out a year ago and they aren't going to continue.Todd Luck wrote:Got both Solar 8 and Turok 3. I have a feeling they're going to relaunch the titles without Shooter sometime in the next year. I'm actually looking forward to Valiant much more at this point

I posted these comments at DK this morning...

Solar #8 is IMO the first and only issue in this series that the art actually enhanced the regular story. Very pleased to see Robinson's Image-style art replaced with something better fitted to this title. The regular story finished strong after becoming a little stagnant in issues 6-7 from the high in #5. The origin story may not have had quite the strong ending I hoped it would but still quite enjoyable. I think the 40+ pages of origin probably would have been better presented with an additional 10 page installment. This final installment felt a bit rushed. Still very good but could have been even better. Overall, a very solid issue from cover to cover.
If this is the end of Jim Shooter Solar, it has a strong finish.

Glad they did a rush job on the Turok art. If we would have had to have waited any longer it would have been ridiculous.

You will like it. Unfortunately, the end of #8 will leave you wanting #9 which doesn't appear will ever happen. Oh, well.

Re: Dr Solar #8
I really liked Robinson's work on Solar, but seeing the addition of a new inker has really breathed some more life into this book.
So sad this is the end...
