The logos are now added to the Samson and Turok #4 books:

I'll be particularly interested if they put the logo on the Occultist books coming up.

IS it Dr. Spektor or not? The Samson preview still references it.

Of course, 'ongoing' to Dark Horse is anything that reaches the third issue.

Little known fact - When Dark Horse was first publishing, Mike Richardson found a type-set at a considerable discount because it was missing the number 5.

And thus we are here today.

Thanks. Still having problems with the computer I've been using, but I should be able to get the top post updated shortly.
I guess these two books wrap up the Jim Shooter era for this line.

Yep. Samson 4 and Turok 4 are in stock with many outlets or will be arriving tomorrow nationwide. No limited distribution this time it seems.

So, this seems to be the end of the Shooter era on this line, and perhaps the end of the line, though it may be relaunched without the big guy. :|

It would appear that early feedback from the final issues of Samson and even Turok suggest continued strong finishes for the books in the DK line. Look forward to reading them this weekend. :thumb:

Added the two books released yesterday to the upcoming section on the top post. I'll re-edit later for a final draft.

Thanks for posting on the Mighty Samson trade. I'm wondering if the print-run will be about two-thirds of the print-run of the Dr Solar trade, which might put it around 600-700.

Well the back issue tpb market is a pretty bizarre beast, so a print run of under 1,000 for the direct market is insane and just goes to show how small our little industry is right now.

If we add the non direct market figures i'd be interested to see what the numbers are then?

I just checked the Top 300 for Oct at ICV2.

http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/21453.html

280 TUROK SON OF STONE #4 6,257

Mighty Samson 4 did not make the list so it sold numbers south of this.......

300 ROBERT E HOWARDS SAVAGE SWORD #3 5,167

I think the 3rd issue sold in the mid 4K range so #4 probably sold close to that. Since Samson has been the lowest selling of the DK titles it will no doubt have the lowest trade print run as well when it hits.

I don't have any inside info on this, but it seems most folks around here are incorrectly using "initial order" numbers and "print run" numbers interchangeably, which they generally are not, specifically regarding collected editions, which generally have a number of additional markets besides the comic book specialty market and have a longer shelf life than individual issues.

This won't be the first appearance of the Occultist in the DHP title. He appeared last issue as well.

Hadn't it been established that at one time he was but is now not associated with the Dark Key titles?

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... e&id=33414

Somewhat surprisingly at the time, the logo design for the first "Occultist" one-shot tied it into Dark Horse's Gold Key line, which includes "Doctor Solar," "Turok" and other classic characters, and material in the back of the issue confirmed it as part of this imprint. But, according to Seeley, this does not necessarily imply a crossover in the near future. "The Gold Key connection is more of a philosophical connection," the writer said. "We're taking very Golden Age, comic book pulp ideas and bringing them to 2011, just as Magnus and the other books did."

So why even consider it as part of Dark Key?
