Re: What video game are you currently playing?
Finally put Assassin's Creed Black Flag into my PS3 a day or two back. Looks good so far but I've played very little thanks to having to revise for exams in January
Definitely looking forward to having a go at the naval battling element of the game though, as that was my fave part of ACIII.

Wrapped up Final Fantasy XV today. Mixed thoughts about the game, but all in all it was enjoyable. The more I think about it, I think the more I'll miss it. The camaraderie between the main character and his friends is the highlight of the game.

That actually is kind of an option! After you beat the game, it gives you a game+ save option that allows you to keep playing and unlocks a bunch of stuff not available in the regular game.Shadowman99 wrote:Just play it againKeith wrote:Wrapped up Final Fantasy XV today. I like games with 'New Game+'. Definitely adds replayability, especially if there are alternative plot paths to follow, areas you couldn't get to before and stuff like thatKeith wrote:That actually is kind of an option! I got the 'yellow light of death' on my playstation last week, so I'm not playing anything for at least the next six months when I'll have time to have a go at fixing it

Damn dude. Had that happen to me. I didn't know they could be "fixed" I ended up getting a new 3 to replace mine when it had happened.Shadowman99 wrote:I got the 'yellow light of death' on my playstation last week, so I'm not playing anything for at least the next six months when I'll have time to have a go at fixing it

Well, I'm not really sure if they can until I've had a go myself. I had a quick look online and apparently it could be any number of things and they're all mostly hardware-based problems, but I'll open the unit up in a few months when I've got a bit more free time and see what I can do with it.dornwolf wrote:Damn dude. I've had Sony replace the unit twice in the past now since about 2005, but apparently they won't send out refurbished 60GB models anymore. I'd rather try to fix the one I've got than get sent a refurbished slim model, but I'll see how it goes once I've had a go at repairing it. Wish me luck

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
That was why I hadn't sent mine in. I had already payed $150 to get the drive fixed. Oddly I had found a place where I live that apparently works on game consoles including PS3 and the YLOD $80 bucks isn't to much of a risk on a machine I no longer use.Shadowman99 wrote:Well, I'm not really sure if they can until I've had a go myself. Re: What video game are you currently playing?
There are a few 'companies' in England that seem to specialise in console repairs, but having never tried them I'm not sure how reliable they're likely to be. Anyway, not a bother. I can survive without games for a whiledornwolf wrote:That was why I hadn't sent mine in. I had already payed $150 to get the drive fixed. Re: What video game are you currently playing?
I am taking what I perceive as a lull between games (FFXV to Halo Wars 2) to try and tackle some smaller games I've had sitting on the sidelines.
First up is Deadlight. Playing the enhanced edition that came out awhile back for Xbox One. Think side scroller of the Metroid/Castlevania style, but with the setting taking place in Seattle well into a zombie apocalypse. So a little survivor horror thrown in. Really well done.

So yeah, about that whole "playing smaller games" thing... I just finished Grand Theft Auto 5. Definitely not small, but what an amazing game. I shudder to think what GTA 6 will be like!
Anyway, bring on Mass Effect. 1 1/2 weeks away!

I just bought the PS3 collection of Mass Effect. It was only $4.49. Don't know when I'll get to them. Near the end of Uncharted 2. These games are so much fun.

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
Just reading this makes me want to play right now. ME1 fetch quests get a little repetitive and boring but not too bad if you're a completionist (I think I was around 40 hrs for 100%) The story is so good and addicting and the gameplay mechanics are sweet once you get the hang of it.Keith wrote:So yeah, about that whole "playing smaller games" thing... This by far my favorite series on last gen and each game improves the last. Ugh it's so good.
Enjoy!
You're also inspiring me to pick up FFXV but right now I'm replaying Chronotrigger for JRPG fix Having a toddler has really killed my game time my backlog is out.of.control.

So true. My backlog is enormous because my son was born 6 years and 4 months ago... I've played so few games since then.FlipMega wrote: Having a toddler has really killed my game time my backlog is out.of.control.

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
Just finished a complete replay of Until Dawn. I saved all 8 teens. It's hard to do. That game is amazing. I was really hoping there would be sequels/copycats by now, but oh well. The game is really fun on replay because everything changes based on choices.
I've done two full playthroughs and several replays of various chapters to get trophies/alternate endings.
I had to do another play through because if you make a specific decision (that the game baits you into) in the tutorial at the beginning, then it cuts off access to an entire section of the game about 3/4 of the way through the game.

Let's we just wrapped Saints Row Gat Outta Hell, an incredibly short experience. Next up Pokémon White, yes I am that far behind.

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
Well, I'd like to say that I've been playing the new Friday the 13th game but, unfortunately, the game won't let me. It's a 100% online game, and the public matchmaking is currently so screwed up that it makes the chances of actually getting into a game slim to none. The devs even released a patch yesterday that has potentially made things worse. Kinda stunned that something so common in gaming these days could be handled so wrong.

I have a few friends in the game design industry, and they've said that the kinds of bugs in this game are more like symptoms of a rushed release. If it does well in the longer run, hopefully we'll see enough patch fixes to iron everything out.Keith wrote:Well, I'd like to say that I've been playing the new Friday the 13th game but, unfortunately, the game won't let me. Everyone I know who has tried it, all seem to like it quite a bit despite the glitches. One friend is amazed at the scope of the game when considering the size of the development team. Even though the overall amount of varied gameplay is small scale, the production values are solid (bugs aside).

Playing Alien: Isolation. This game starts very slowly, but once the xenomorph shows up it's terrifying. So much fun.

Re: What video game are you currently playing?
I was finally able to play after learning of a current work around. While public matchmaking is fubar'd, on Xbox One you can create a private game and then set up a Group looking for players to join, and then they can just join in off the profile of the person hosting. Works like a charm.grendeljd wrote:I have a few friends in the game design industry, and they've said that the kinds of bugs in this game are more like symptoms of a rushed release. This game is really fun. It is online matches, so you are either playing as Jason trying kill the camp counselors, or you are the counselors trying to escape by one of a few alternatives... or if you are really ambitious... try to kill Jason. Much easier said than done. The mood is awesome, and you quickly come to realize as a counselor that you are living on borrowed time. Jason is coming for you, and he will find you... just like the movies. Continued play gains you experience which raises your levels and unlocks more counselors or versions of Jason from the various movies. You can then also purchase various abilities to make Jason more lethal or improve the survivability of the counselors.
A particularly memorable match occurred while I was playing with a buddy of mine. I was playing as a counselor, and had no idea where my friend was. I lucked out big time as I met up with a group of other counselors right as they fixed a car and were getting ready to leave. We're all on headsets, so they are screaming at me to hurry and get in the car. I narrowly got in right as Jason came around from the other side at me and we escaped. However, I think driving is made more on the challenging side, and we ended up crashing into a tree. Oops. This doesn't destroy the car, but you are stuck trying to restart it, giving you know who plenty of time to catch up. So everyone is panicking and screaming over the headsets, which you could imagine would be just like in the movies. The car finally restarted and we got away... the last shot as we crossed the bridge was of a Jason right behind us. Classic! Turns out my buddy was Jason that round as well, so he was ticked that he had almost had me earlier.
Good Morning, that's a nice tnetennba.
