Tekno - Issue List

Post by Knightt »

After quite a bit of research, I have finally been able to put this somewhat complete Tekno comics list together.

At one point (research pending) Tekno Comic changed names to Big Entertainment. I have done my best at this time to annotate which books are from which company name (T = Tekno Comics and B = Big Entertainment respectively). I will have to double check this soon as I am just too busy with 'stuff' at the moment. Please bear with me

If there are any books that I have missed... please let me know. Enjoy...

LIST UPDATED TO READ I-BOTS VOL FROM 'BIG ENTERTAINMENT' RATHER THAN THE PREVIOUS LISTED AS 'TEKNO COMICS'.

I am now down to needing (I believe) 5 or 6 issues of Tekno comics to be at 100%. WOW that was quick... I did that in under 30 days. HEY, it is easy when you are snagging these books at $.10 cents a piece. :)

I have ONLY ever seen or heard of Tecknophage #1 Steel Edition which was also confirmed in my conversations with John Taddeo. Any 'new' Steel Editions would be welcomed knowledge... and also painful news at the same time as it is ANOTHER book to track down.. :!:

From what I see, you have several Steel Editions listed as "4a, 4b". I mistakenly called them Steel Editions because of the blurb on the front cover. But the blurb means that there is a coupon included for the Steel Edition of Tecknophange #1. So you would list the missing Mr. Hero #4 as #4b. The Lady Justice #1b is a rarer variant with different cover. You also don't have the polybagged 1st Anniversary issue of Mike Danger #7 or Lady Justice V2 #10.

Here is a list of my Teckno comics:

TECKNO-COMICS:

LOST UNIVERSE:
#1---with game piece and trading card;
#2---with game piece and trading card;
#3---Starship Blueprints (3 copies);
#4a---!st Edition Tecknophange card;
#4b---STEEL EDITION with different cover and coupon for Tecknophange #1;
#5;
#6 (2 copies);
#7

PRIMORTALS:
#1---with game piece and trading card;
#2---with game piece and trading card (2 copies);
#3---with game piece and trading card (2 copies);
#4a---1st Edition Tecknohange card;
#4b---STEEL EDITION with different cover and coupon for Tecknophange #1;
#5;
#6;
#7 (2 copies);
#8;
#9;
#10

WHEEL OF WORLDS:
#0---with poster;
#1

MR. HERO:
#1---with game piece and trading card (2 copies);
#2---with game piece and trading card (3 copies);
#3---with game piece and trading card (2 copies);
#4a---1st Edition Tecknophange card;
#4b---STEEL EDITION same cover as regular version, with coupon for Tecknophange #1 (2 copies);
#5 (2 copies);
#6;
#7;
#8;
#9

LADY JUSTICE:
#1a---Daniel Brereton cover ($1.95 cover) (2 copies);
#1b variant---Bill Sienkiewicz cover ($2.25 cover);
#2 (2 copies);
#3;
#7---1st Anniversary polybagged with Primortals #3;
#8;
#9;
#10;
#11

OK I am too drunk to double check right now but go over my 'legend' and the original list and see if it does not make sense.

I am sure it can all make sense in the morning... :wink:

Combination of both... of course, I did place an order with mycomicshoponline to finish out a few of the issues I could not find. But I did score the majority of my books out of some toe rag LCS.

Which issues do you still need?

Both issues of "From Dusk 'Til Dawn" were more like Graphic Novels, and have PUNY print runs along the lines of Predator vs Magnus TPB, maybe even smaller. The Deluxe version had a cover price of $9.99. I think it cost me around $7 with my store discount, when it first came out in 1997. If you've found either of these, consider yourself lucky. If you found them in a quarter bin, the Comic-Gods must favor you, my son...:)---Steve

Not 'exactly' sure what I still need but I really think it is under 6 issues.

I found both DTD TPBs (one is a 'painted cover' while the other is a 'photo cover' for $.10 cents and yes, very graphic novelish. ANY book with a Selma Hyack crotch shot in it... is WELL worth the $.10 cents I spent on it in the first place.

I do know that I need a couple or three of the 'gold signature' books and am honestly not sure exactly which ones were made. I have conflicting reports. But those and a few very common issues are it... and I dont really know if I am going to even go after that gay-*SQUEE* Anne McAfferity book that is at the top of my 'list' :roll:

I was surprised at how quickly Tekno comics 'caught my eye'. I guess the cost of the books kind of grabbed me and I felt 'why not ?'. At ten cents a book how could I NOT pick them up, ya know ?

I look forward to reading Teknophage, Mike Danger and Lady Justice. Really outside the superhero spectrum for me but maybe that is what drew me to these books as well. Something old but fresh at the same time... OH and don't forget, CHEAP !!!

For the record... I have still NOT recieved the aforementioned painted cover DTD TPB !!! :!:

Can anyone confirm or deny the existance of 'gold signature' issues by title and number ?

I have only been able to obtain Primortals #1 with Leonard Nimoy's signature (or actually facimili thereof) in gold foil.

I finally got my sorting and cataloging and lable making project completed. I will be posting a groovy pic of my work and some neat Tekno odds and ends that I scored recently. One is a Tekno secret compartment ring (I will be using that at SDCC in case Princess Leia Slave Girl shows up again this year... hubba hubba ) for whatever you want to slip in someone's drink.

But I really need to get a handle on which Tekno books I am missing and focus on getting them. I have a few extra Tekno books that I need to send out to fatback so as to get him hooked on these as well !!! boo yaa

I STILL have not recieved that painted cover Dusk til Dawn TPB... aaarrrrggghhhh Good thing that is in no way a part of the Tekno continuity.

ANNE MCCAFFREY'S THE UNICORN GIRL (B): 1

Was this ever released, as it is only here that I have seen it listed?

(If it was released then I need 3-4 copies.) Don't need it.

It appears that it was released in Nov. 1997. You can find copies of it (as an illustrated novel) on Amazon.com.---Steve

Guys, another thing to look for. On some of the #1's there are Gold Stamped autographed issues.
They were 2nd prints that went out in very small numbers. I have the Primortals #1 here as an example.

Sorry, the gold foil doesn't show up very well.
I'm still working on info of finding exactly what issues were published like this.

Also calling those issues above "Steel Editions" is kinda confusing since they aren't that at all like the Tekophage issue.

Gee would that be these gold signature books ?

There is only one Steel Edition comic. It is Tecknophage #1 with a silver or 'steel' embossed cover.

not actively collecting these, but is the TEKNOPHAGE Steel edition supposed to be hard to find? Saw a bunch of them on eBay, so I'm guessing no.

It was a sendaway gimmick back in the day.

I think I picked one up for $2.00 at mycomicshop.com and see them all the time on Ebay as well. Cool cover but that is about it. The Gold Signature books I think are harder to find.

Just got finished reading the first series of Primortals and was curious about something. After the letters column in issue #15 there is an advertisement for issue #16 , this issue was never printed correct. Does anyone know why they did this like this and then started series two. The reason I ask is that this issue was left with a cliiff hanger and I haven't read Vol. 2 yet so I'm hoping for some sort of conclusion to this particular story. I realize this company eventually stops making comics all together but I'm just kinda hoping for a conclusion to this story. Any insight would be appreciated. :thumb: :clap:

The company switched over from Tekno Comix to Big Entertainment. That probably had something to do with it. Not really sure though.
