Were there other 2099 card sets?
I'm going to guess and say no, as there are no other 2099-related sets listed on Jeff Allender's web site that you listed and also no 2099 sets when doing an eBay search.

New books!

Fantastic Four 413 (vs Doom 2099)
Timestorm 2009-2099 (This might be that Spider-Man meets book on the list)
Exiles 75-76
Captain Marvel (first Peter David series) 27-30 and Marvel Legends Maestro figure reprint of 30
Amazing Spider-Man 527 2nd print variant has Spider-Man 2099 cover

Special mention: Darkhawk 28, apparently when this came out, it was believed to take place in the 2099 universe. In a late issue of Darkhawk's letter column, Tom Defalco says that it's not 2099, just very similar. (WTF? Why not just say it it? I don't know, I haven't read it. But how many alterniverses do you need?)

Note-The White Spider-Man 2099 #1 is a Spider-Man Classics insert comic.

Lemme see if I can help

Fantastic Four 413 (vs Doom 2099)--This one should be on the list, it continues a story from Doom 2099 42 I think

Timestorm 2009-2099 (This might be that Spider-Man meets book on the list)--This isn't the Spiderman 2099 Meets Spiderman book. I'm pretty sure it isn't even the same 2099 if ya know what I mean, maybe add as an addendum.

Exiles 75-76--These issues have the Exiles on a jaunt thru the multiverse when they land in the 2099verse, I know Proteus is involved and by the time they leave 2099 it's history has been changed. I look at it like it's "a 2099" and not "the 2099".

Captain Marvel (first Peter David series) 27-30 and Marvel Legends Maestro figure reprint of 30--These issues pick up on the Thanatos plot line from early issues of Spidey 2099.

Amazing Spider-Man 527 2nd print variant has Spider-Man 2099 cover--Just a cover appearance, not in the story.

But how many alterniverses do you need?)--No idea on this one.

Note-The White Spider-Man 2099 #1 is a Spider-Man Classics insert comic.--This came with a Marvel Legends Spidey 2099 figure, this is the #1 (2nd print) on the list.

I hope this helps. :thumb:

A LOT. Thanks.

I am all for adding stuff, I was just wanting to know the why, cause you know 'why ask why'.

I have yet to read through the 2099-Verse and I think this was good for all of us.

OK I added the following (even found out a bit of NEW info, i.e. the Timestorm books better defined):

Timestorm 2009-2099 - Mini-Series (2009) 1, 2, 3, 4, TPB
Timestorm 2009/2099: Spider-Man One-Shot
Timestorm 2009/2099: X-Men One-Shot

Marvel 2099 Appearances and tie-ins to story lines:
Fantastic Four 413 (vs Doom 2099)
Exiles 75, 76
Captain Marvel (first Peter David series) 27, 28, 29, 30

Reprints with action figures:
Marvel Legends Maestro figure reprint of Captain Marvel 30
Marvel Legends Spider-Man 2099 figure reprint of Spider-Man 2099 #1 (white cover - listed above as 2nd print)

Misc
Amazing Spider-Man 527 2nd print variant - Spider-Man 2099 on cover

Dude, you're killing me, just killing me. do you think it's safe to assume that Spider-Man 2099 #41-45 also have newsstand price variants as well?

It seems a safe assumption. When Marvel prices went from $1.50 to $1.95 on Direct Editions, the Newsstand appears to have stayed at $1.50 for several months.....sorry for giving you more to collect
Finally found a newsstand edition of the first Venom (issue 35) - it's also a price variant. Now the next challenge is finding a newsstand version for the other cover.
Also picked up a Spidey #43 n-stand price variant.

I've been working on these for a bit myself. As near as I can tell X-men 2099 20-35 all have newsstand price variants and Spider-Man 2099 32-46 including the 1 in 4 Venom variants of 35-38 have newsstand price variants.

I've got price variants of Spidey 2099 36 and 37 (Venom variants) and 45 and 46.

I'm much closer on X-men 2099, I only need 20, 24 and 27 for a full set of price variants. :D

Good info. and nicely done! Glad I'm not the only one pursuing these.
I think I've located 4 X-men and now 5 Spidey's - X-Men 20, 24, 33, 34 and Spidey 35, 40, 43, 44 and 46. Whenever I find 'em (always for a buck or so) the completist in me needs to snag them.

Have you found variants in other titles? I have a couple Hulk newsstands but they aren't price variants. Haven't tracked down any Ravage, Punisher, Doom or GR either.

I haven't found any price variants for the other titles...yet.

As far as I can tell the price variants start with books branded with the "One Nation Under Doom" logo and continue until they were cancelled.

Hey guys

I've been busy and haven't had much time to post but things are easing up so I figured I'd jump back in with this, I'd like to get some opinions on something I picked up

Hulk 2099 1 newsstand

Image

I think it's an error that the green foil didn't print. There is a tiny strip down the left side where the green foil started then stopped. I've compared the indicia on this to a regular copy and they are the same.

That's a neat one! and sounds like the same printing error/variation as occurred on Venom Lethal Protector Black...a keeper IMO. Any more luck w/the price variants?

I picked up an X-Men 2099 27 newsstand, now I just need 20 and 24 to finish that price variant run. I also added a Spider-Man 2099 42 newsstand, I still have a ways to go on this set.

How has your luck been on the price variants?

Not much lately, I picked up a Spidey or two but I think they're dupes. I think 44 is one of them...let me check and I can hook you up if you'd like. :thumb:

Anyone know what the story behind New Warriors #70 (1990s) was about? It featured two characters from the year 2092 and one of them kept on saying 'shock'. Were these two from the same timeline as the 2099verse just from an earlier period?
