Marvel seem set to throw the "biggest event ever" next Spring. Normally I couldn't give a flying **** what Marvel are doing, but the words "biggest event ever" seem to have piqued my interest. Might be interesting to keep an eye on this one just to see what it ends up being all about.

Its a new Secret War. Announced yesterday with Hickman and Esad Ribic. Looks to involve the multi-verse and various timelines.

Marvel calls everything the biggest event ever, that will change the universe forever!!!!
Whatever. Marvels track record with events recently has been really bad.
Don't want to discourage your interest but I believe this will suck. Like most events have sucked. The comic book industry destroyed any interest I could have in most event books. It will have a higher page count with extras, some may don't care about, and a cover price of 4,99$ for several issues.
But hey can't really judge anything before it's even released... it might be decent...

Well, that's what clicking on the link in the top post in this thread says.

Couldn't read it at work. Figured it didn't say much since the top post didn't mention the title or creators.

Right now Marvel is having an event called "Time Runs Out". Following that could be something along the lines of DC's New 52.

So, they get to reboot everything again and start with another new #1 again?

I'm hoping this time it will have some merit. I fell for Marvel's line of bull that they wouldn't be relaunching any of their titles with new #1s anytime soon after Marvel Now, though. That was a bold faced lie.

I guess I should just assume the position of wallet open and pants down while bent over?

Marvel (actually all Disney properties) is way to good at taking my money.

I'm a sucker for "events." it's a damn shame but it's true.

I got excited when i read the title for this thread. then i saw that hickman is involved. Hickman imo has some of the most creative and compelling ideas in the industry. ALSO imo he is one of the most boring writers. it's very frustrating. I'll be damned if Infinity wasn't a great idea but the books were filled with page after page of people talking to each other in a black room.

just read the link. I love how now that Disney owns Marvel they are slowly squeezing out the IPs that other studios own the movie rights to.

civil war, Fear itself, age of ultron, and original sin were good IMO

Haha, don't worry, I'm not actually going to be reading it. I already said in my first post that I don't really give a *SQUEE* what Marvel are putting out

I just thought this 'BIGGEST EVER!' was quite a claim, and was simply wondering if it really actually was likely to be something special in the comic book world... But having read some of the comments in the thread here, it looks as though the answer to that that is a resounding 'Nope'

Secret wars aren't all that great a concept anyway, so I fail to see how it is going to make things really interesting. I read AvX and thought it was maybe the most uninspiring event ever. Boring, unimportant (yeah Professor X died, how many times has that happened) I think it is funny how they threaten to change everything then when they do fans complain, and so they quietly undo all the changes then try changing things again. That is the great draw and great problem with comics. They have this rich history that makes everything so deep and characters so interesting, but they never end and so they have to keep trying to be new without abandoning the old. One of the reasons why Valiant works so well is that because they only do a couple of books, and end books and mini series they are able to actually have some things that really shake up the universe. But yeah big events generally stink.

(written with lots of exaggeration)

The only winners of the AvsX conflict were the ones that didn't read it.
The events don't actually matter, at all. They come and go and you barely notice them. Marvel is like a machinegun that shoots out event after event or turd after turd(well it's the same basically it's all on paper in the end). :)

I wonder if the All My Children or General Hospital fans go nuts every time their favorite soap drags out the tropes.

Some are. I've heard stories of fans getting mad at the actors for what they do on the shows, or depressed when a character dies.
