+1. Considering the characters don't age (I know, nobody ages in comics), it seemed like this could have gone on and on. I read this series in trades, but very much looking forward to see how all of these wraps up.hulk181man wrote:Very surprised by this...wow...expected this book to be around much longer.
Black Science. Lazarus. Birthright. Saga. Manifest Destiny. Deadly Class.

To be honest it's not been good for a long time. I love Fables but it's not what it used to be.

I pretty much consider those first ten trades to be the extent of Fables.

Read the first two trades of Fables and never thought it was anything special. Original, but not special. To each their own, I suppose.

I think this might mark the end, or near end of the Vertigo line. What do you guys think?

Quite possible...with the "merging" of the Vertigo universe after Flashpoint, a lot of the mainstays have moved to the New 52 like Swamp Thing and Constantine (not that they couldn't still print books for them under that imprint).maraxusofkeld wrote:I think this might mark the end, or near end of the Vertigo line. Sandman Overture is out, but that's a limited series...What else do they have right now? It would be a shame if it went away, but I suppose sales of Shadowman might rise

Re: Fables Comes to an End with issue #150
I also think that the leaving of Karen Berger has a lot to do with this as well. If I were a comic creator trying to sell my book, why would I want to work for DC, when I could be working for Image and reaping far more control, ownerhip, and money.
Re: Fables Comes to an End with issue #150
I started reading Fables a few weeks ago. The first trade was average, the second trade was good in spots. It gets better with the 3rd & 4th trades up to the war.BugsySig wrote:Read the first two trades of Fables and never thought it was anything special. Original, but not special. I wouldn't deem the series "great," though, and comparisons to Gaiman's Sandman I simply do not see any justification for aside from slight similarities in style.

I could say the same thing about Sandman. Love Fables though, some of Willingham's finest work so this is sad news.BugsySig wrote:Read the first two trades of Fables and never thought it was anything special. Original, but not special. To each their own, I suppose.

Re: Fables Comes to an End with issue #150
I've enjoyed all of Gaiman's novels yet for some odd reason, Sandman hasn't grabbed me as much as I think it should. I've read the first 4, 5 trades, the stories and characters have been creative (and disturbing). Seasons of Mist was probably my favorite one so far.lorddunlow wrote:Take it back!String wrote:I could say the same thing about Sandman. If anything, I enjoyed his Death mini-series that he did with Bachalo more, in fact, now that I consider it, I enjoyed Sandman more whenever his 'sister' Death appeared. (My, that sounds entirely morbid and creepy to me)

Death is most certainly my favorite. My wife got me the Death Exclusive HC for my birthday this year. It's awesome.String wrote:I've enjoyed all of Gaiman's novels yet for some odd reason, Sandman hasn't grabbed me as much as I think it should. Re: Fables Comes to an End with issue #150
This bummed me when I heard about it. I'm glad they are ending it on a high, but sad we won't get more every month. I rank this series, great fables crossover aside, as one of the finest works of fantasy fiction in the last 30 years. In comics, its a close second to Sandman. One of the best comics ever. I console myself with still having a year. Among creator owned work, chew and saga remain but chew only has 21 issues remaining. If you guys haven't picked up some of the " extras" like the full length graphic novels, Fairest in all the land or Werewolves of the heartland, do it.

Really good stuff, even though not everyone likes that one . I've managed to get everything. Fables, jack of fables, Cinderella, fairest and all the novels, even Peter and max.Chiclo wrote:1001 Nights of Snowfallxodacia81 wrote:This bummed me when I heard about it.
