I'm by no means a marketing or financial expert (I'm an English major, I don't know anything except how to talk pretty ), but I would think that 2 million is a drop in the hat compared to what they're gonna pull in with Batman Vs Superman.
I was abandoned... on a doorstep.. in a basket. In 1945.

I primarily want the V to grow in the comics realm, so that does not bother me. How close are the DC comics to becoming an IP farm?

Well, according to that same web, what it means its people should start saying goodbye to the whole DC You, they are going back to Didio style universe.
Probably more Batman than ever.

Didio style? What does that look like? Will Martian Manhunter ongoing still be published?Ibero wrote:Well, according to that same web, what it means its people should start saying goodbye to the whole DC You, they are going back to Didio style universe.

The article said that some of the cost came from the move to California, which cost more than anticipated.
I would say Didio style means style without any substance

It means their comics are down $2 million. Yeah, they are lumping the cross-country move with it, but that is pretty serious for their brand. Supes Vs Batman is a film and that isn't going to factor into anything other than the film division and Warner Bros. as a whole.
I think a small part of it is there's competition that really, did not exist in this way: it used to be that when you had a friend or someone curious about comics, you had them get Dark Knight or Watchmen. Sandman or some Vertigo book. Now, there's a lot of gateway material. Those books that have sold millions of copies are now being replaced by Saga and Walking Dead. DC's film and tv is not getting comics sold. Civil War has become that new Marvel book and they will sell so many when that movie comes out.

Thats actually a very interesting way to approach it. DC hasn't really published any new reader friendly or gateway as you put material in quite awhile.Joshua wrote:It means their comics are down $2 million. One of the other things I think they've done is chase to new reader unicorn that Marvel is. The major difference is that while Marvel has gained somewhat new fans, probably a few more with Star Wars fans who might not of bought Marvel, DC also tossed away a lot of their history and basically told old readers to screw off. Either you went with it or they didn't want you.

This is exactly how I felt and they lost me and I'm okay with that.dornwolf wrote:DC also tossed away a lot of their history and basically told old readers to screw off. Either you went with it or they didn't want you.

The only one I enjoyed was Earth-2 and that one has gone down the toilet in a hurry.geocarr wrote:This is exactly how I felt and they lost me and I'm okay with that.dornwolf wrote:DC also tossed away a lot of their history and basically told old readers to screw off. I read through the DC listings in Previews and the little voice in my head said:
"Nothing to see here...move along."
So I did.
