Bosco685's embarrassing attempt at a Valiant collection

Post by bosco685 »

First up, a recent fun addition.

I'm not sure how Valiant distributed these, but when I saw it recently on Ebay I had to have it.

The Valiant 1994 Press Kit, which was sent to me to directly by the marketing manager at the time.

He included this video tape that was distributed to dealers I believe to play in stores and attract collectors to some crazy new company. I hope these guys made it big.

I get the feeling Valiant was excited over Ninjak's release.

An oversize chromium card that dealers displayed on their counters.

What Valiant collection would be complete without a Doctor Silk Bookmark Wizard Valiant Special Insert?

Forgot I even had these tucked away.

Okay, maybe not so embarrassing.

My original owner copy of Archer & Armstrong 0 Gold sent to me by Valiant after I wrote in to tell them about how amazing I thought this series was, and what an impact the #0 issue had on me.

Neat trick (and nice set!). How'd ya manage that?
I was writing into Valiant's staff regularly to the point they recognized me, which was really a great experience. So when I was asked if I wanted something unique - which how could I turn dow a request like that - I was sent this kit with the video.

I'm more a book collector, so it doesn't fit my focus as much. But it was still a really cool gift.

Okay, no giggling at me now. I'm trying my best to build a quality collection of my favorite company.

This and my Archer & Armstrong 0 Gold came directly from Valiant back in the day when you had to do something to promote the company in order to receive one. I received this from an article I wrote in the Stars & Stripes about the history of comics while I was serving in the U.S. Army Infantry as a platoon leader. The focus turned to how Valiant was the new kid on the block teaching the old-time comic companies how to mix captivating stories with nice artwork. I guess Valiant liked it.
