I really enjoyed this book, and honestly might collect the series.

Not a typical Valiant book; however, worth reading IMO! :thumb:

I really loved it. It's a Valiant superhero story, for kids!

It feels like it fits really well into the universe too, and for the first time in a while, the stakes seem pretty damn high. By the end, when I was just starting to wonder what Neela was going to have to say about it, I turned the page and realized that this writer might just know what he's doing. I'm excited for the next issue.

This was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. And those last two pages!

I often find Jim Towe's art inconsistent, particularly on Youngblood, but here it's mostly good. A couple wonky/overly cartoony panels, but mostly good. I can't tell if all his mouths look similar or if the designs are specific and there's a tell as to Hadrian's identity.

The art is a bit cartoony for the tone and action if the book, but the story/plot was solid enough to keep me interested. Very glad to see Neela and Ank involved. Shouldn’t have a story dealing with time travel without her involved somehow.

Listening to VCR

1) Did any of the guys read the original Acclaim Doctor Tomorrow? This version is definitely a bit different, but not completely different.

2) Scratching my #2. VCR this week spoke insanely highly of the absolutely dreadful Visitor series which answered this question of what they think quality and the "quote unquote typical Valiant reader" look like.

I thought this issue was ‘fine’. Nothing special but readable, I’ll pick up issue 2 and see where it goes.

I like The Visitor well enough. :? They might be a little optimistic over at VCR, but it's not like Visitor is bad. If The Visitor were to come out during Dino's tenure, we would all think it was a solid base hit.

I legit think it's awful. Like worst of the year writing bad. Three issues of absolute snoozefest.

I went back to my LCS just an hour ago to pick Dr Tomorrow up. I had passed on it and picked up Visitor #3 instead...big mistake I think. But I had no way of really knowing that at the time.

So, I guess I'm waiting on the trade. It'll be a long wait.
I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

It took me a moment to realize you were talking about The Visitor here. I have to agree. Besides the cool covers, there was only one panel (out of three issues!) I really really liked. When the two (protagonists?) say something like "Don't worry he can't find us here. We'll be safe here" and then open the gate to see a garden full of bodies.

But contrast that to Dr Tomorrow where I outright enjoyed tons of panels.

I was really bummed out when my LCS had sold out of #1 so the next day I called around and found a store in the next city over. It made my day. I felt kinda stupid to drive all that way, but I had to feed that need.

I'm now dropping my plan to finish the The Visitor run in favor of Dr Tomorrow. I may pick up both if The Visitor gets any better.

But to the person surprised at how positive the VCR podcasters were, I agree completely. I was listening along and had to almost rewind and see if I heard right. I think we should all be positive as Valiant fans, and as Ferg demonstrates different people do indeed see things very differently. But that was... jarring

Wasn't that Stanchek who just gets blown in half? Isn't he supposed to be just about the most powerful hero in the VU? Doesn't he rival Harada in power?

Because this was a different universe he may not be the same character, or he is and Hadrian is just that strong. We will find out in another issue or 2 lol.

I saw somewhere where someone was complaining about Ninjak getting killed. They were saying it used to be VALIANT WHERE DEAD IS DEAD but DMG isn't honoring that.

But I got to thinking. In the Stalinverse, Bloodshot got killed (apparently).

So apparently parallel universe are fair game. This particular criticism of DMG may not be deserved

I finally got around to reading the first issue and I really quite liked it. Is this the first time Valiant has dealt with alternate universes? (I don't count the Deadside stuff.)
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

The Deadside is not an alternate universe; it's more like hades.

In the final arc of Ivar, Timewalker many alternate universes are briefly explored incl. the one Ank is from.

The Upsidedownside feat. Evil Woody in the Valiant-Sized one-shot. Not to be confused with the Upside-Downverse (see Unity #25).

Maybe there's more....?

The Otherverse feat. Quantum as "Superman" in Q&W (2017) by Eliot Rahal.

But this one feels more like a dreamscape....like Torquehalla and the other Heroscapes (seen in Gen Zero).

I thought that what happened in the Timewalker series was all the same universe just different because of time travel, not because they actually existed. More like when Divinity changed things, they simply changed, they did not continue to be a separate reality. Oh man this makes my head hurt..lol. Time to re read those issues. :D

Um...who says Dr. Tomorrow takes place in another universe? Nothing in the 1st issue suggests that. So far it just seems like typical time travel.

Only if Nemesis, Bravado, and Jack Rapid came with Hadrian or future DocTom.

Then you haven't read the Operation: Stormbreaker one-shot by Acclaim (DocTom's first appearance) or don't remember it in detail.

Been a long time. But either way, that alone doesn’t make this a separate universe. VEI/DMG has nothing to do with VH1/Acclaim.

Didn't mean to suggest that the book takes place in another universe, just that future Dr. Tomorrow said he came from a parallel universe.

Hmmm...must have missed that...does he mean “potential future” instead? Neela’s involvement would suggest time traveler and not parallel universe.
