Faith & The Future Force #1 Discussion
Really good book. I think this is (and will continue to shape into) exactly what we need.

Nope, it's out this week. DBS is reading the advanced preview pdf that goes out early to reviewers (and podcasters ).Captain Craig wrote:Did this come out last week?

I'm waiting for All-Comic to post my review, but spoiler: I loved this! Great vibe, true adventure story. Also Houser's best Valiant work IMO.

So far so good in this issue. Geek references in the book may have been over my head because I don't follow what they were referencing, but it was still a really good book.

Because unlike you who it seems can buy what ever you want I personally need to watch my money. I don't like minis so I won't support them. I made an exception for secret wepons because of the code and the writer.DirtbagSailor wrote:Why is that?nonplayer wrote:I'm going to pass on this mini.

Re: Faith & The Future Force #1 Discussion
That was great... fun read. I'm curious to see what happened just prior. How did Neela get Faith's name, and how did the robot seemingly already met Faith?
Also, the scene towards the end, where Neela travels back to drop the revised note off to past Neela and Ank... as they look at the note, is there a certain someone framed in the shot between them? Perhaps someone whose name rhymes with SchhhmIvar?
--edit--- Nah, I take it back. There is a better shot of that person a few panels back. Definitely not Ivar. Nuts. Would have been cool.

I liked the art, and the coloring really stood out. But I really hope every issue is not structured like this one....

Anytime Valiant has made a character super cheesy, they've had a reason (or it has made more sense) in later issues.agent_graves wrote:Also, I thought the villain was a lil cheesey...
Dinesh is a big fan of Star Wars, so I'm sure there's a reason this villain looks like a skinny gonk droid (or maybe it's just a thumb drive).
The villain has the same "digital manipulation of reality" that the Armor Hunter Helix had.

Re: Faith & The Future Force #1 Discussion
Got a Dr. Who reference in there, but was really wanting a Back to The Future line or two.
Re: Faith & The Future Force #1 Discussion
I'm guessing since the robot says he already has what he needs from Faith, then flies, it has already absorbed Faith's ability to fly as well as her geeky sci-fi references/knowledge. Which I think is a pretty cool way to make a villain into a fun/cheesy "Faith" (the series) appropriate character.TheeBaldMoose wrote:Who didn't say this with Arnold's voice? I really liked this issue and the way this mini seems to be structured. I do hope this into the series structure. Assuming that they can pull this series off without blowing it, its a very cool use of time travel ala Edge of Tomorrow or Arq.agent_graves wrote:I liked the art, and the coloring really stood out. I really liked issue 1 and I agree with DBS's review. I'm hesitant to trust a time travel story to be tight and consistent buthe Ivar was great so I'm hoping for the best.
Also I like the robots design.
Re: Faith & The Future Force #1 Discussion
Theory:
This series is going to overcharge Faiths powers. In the Faith ongoing she has already started to learn to create barriers and use her powers in new ways such as minor telekenisis. The robot appears to have taken her powers and used them in a new way as a weapon to kill Faith, turning her force field into a projectile. I think we will see Faith learn to use her abilities in a more powerful ways by the end of this, perhaps that's why she's so important to the story.

It's so good to see Neela and Ank again. Love it.
The series is off to a great start and Segovia's realistic art is quite amazing, too.

Re: Faith & The Future Force #1 Discussion
I thought this was a decent enough read. The Faith ongoing tended to be a little insubstantial for my reading tastes so my expectations were adjusted accordingly going into this one. It kept me interested without blowing me away but I'm in for the 4 issues.
The only real downside for me was the goofy looking villain
