Super Mario Bros #1

Great issue! I think what's likely going to happen is that Mario will eventually hook up with Peach after a lot time spent in the "friend-zone". I'm guessing that she'll come up with a few excuses like being in other castles over and over. :|

It's also likely that Luigi is really Mario's long-lost brother, though that would be an unexpected plot-twist. Not sure what to think about this shadowy Bowser character, guess we'll see eventually if he's friend or foe... :?

Art work seemed a bit commercial for my tastes; I'd love to see what Dysart and Cary Nord could do with this book! :hm:

Thoughts?

I would love to see a Mario v Luigi (Harada v Pete) story!

Personally, I could see Yoshi joining Unity and Harada joining forces with Wario for total world domination! :hm: facepalm

I think the biggest surprise was when Mario ate the mushroom and got bigger before jumping on the Koopa Troopa and running behind the shell after kicking it at the army of Goombas to clear a path. AMAZINGLY, he grabs the invincibility star out of a random brick he punched (perhaps out of anger?) and ran to the little castle before jumping *SQUEE*-first onto the flagpole. :high-five:

It might just be me, but I seriously DID NOT expect him to fearlessly enter the mysterious pipe and head to the underground layers! Those are some serious balls, and I think all will be explained in issue #2. :hm:

I can't wait personally; this series is unfolding at a surprising rate. I'm a little surprised it didn't make the top 300 though. Valiant needs to do something to help these characters break out into the mainstream. :?

So now that Dinesh has confirmed that Turok will NOT be returning to VEI, I think it is safe to assume that MARIO is the clear front-runner. :hope:

I'm so damn stoked about this; and am already reaching out to Mico Suayan's Art rep to buy his SMB #1 original cover art! :cloud9:

Time to get this bad-boy cleaned, pressed, and slabbed.

I refuse to wait for the speculators this time; I'm leading the charge! :|

I find it unlikely that a mushroom could double one's size (and make mass something like an order of magnitude higher). I think the whole thing is a hallucination brought on by the mushroom.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.
