My man cave...

Post by stone384 »

Here it is. I couldn't get a good pic of the whole room so I will try to piece it together as best I can. Sorry, but most of the pics are going to be pretty blurry. My digital is a cheap POS.

My vertigo statues above the door.

Image

Just following the shelf along. I built and hung the shelves for the statues. They are on 2 of the four walls as well as above the door. I hung the shelves above the windows.

Magneto didn't fit on the selves so he went here on wall #3 with the CD's

These are the only figures I have left. They are between the desk and the books shelf.

Image

These statues are on top of the bookshelf. This is how they are supposed to be displayed.

Image

and this is how I will be displaying them. Note the Black suit Spidey! :punk:

This is the #4 wall. Those are melted peices of aluminum from a mobile home fire I put out all by myself. You can't see it, but my boot print is in one of them. I thought it was cool. There is also a framed X-Men print signed by John Byrne and a series of Spider-man holograms signed by Stan Lee & John Romita (unfortunately the ink is very faded :( )

This is a pic of the wall under the shelves There are two more John Byrne X-men prints (they were all part of a set, 6 total). A Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein print signed by Bernie at SDCC two years ago and a print of DC characters signed by Carmine Infantino.

The floor below the prints. All those small boxes there are books I am going to sell...someday :? And my shipping supplies.

Image
The small boxes on the left are books I need to read before putting them away (yes 4 small boxes worth  ) The books stacked on top of them are books I have read and need to put in the filing cabinets. The boxes on the right are more books for sale that I need to put in my data base.

Very blurry close ups of the statues. Spectere, Dark Phoenix, Gambit, Green Arrow, Batgirl, Cain & Abel bookends (from Gaimen's Sandman) and all my vertigo statues: two Sandman stautes (one on each end), Destiny, Preacher and Constantine.

th, th, th, that's al folks  Now I just have to paint the walls to cover up all the scuff marks and nail holes.

Thanks! You are the second person to tell me they are going to use my idea. :thumb: I have been wanting to do that for years. Don't know where I got the idea, but I am very happy with how it turned out. The dark color really helps conceal the seems. I have a little finish work to do to finish covering the seems. I just inverted the brackets so I could put the shelf right at the edge of the window sill and door jamb. Just make sure you are in the studs. Drywall holders won't hold.

I would love to get the original Sandman statue by Kelly Jones. It is the grandfather of the whole statue market, but it goes for thousands of dollars. That colossus print was part of a John Byrne package. All the prints came together in a big envelope. I have a similar Mike Zeck Punisher print set, but I don't have framed or any wall room for it. I haven't even opened the shrinkwrap and I have had it for 10+ years. I would love to find space for it someday. :thumb:

Someday I will rearrange the wall with all the prints. I still have a CF sketch and 3 or 4 other things I need to get framed so I can hang them as well and I need the room! I will try to get better pics of Magneto and the others in a bit. :thumb:

As promised, a little better pic of Magneto....

Image[/img]

And here are a couple of pics of a statue that I missed.

Image

It is a replica of the Kraven's Last Hunt cover done my Mike Zeck. I have had this statue sitting in the garage for so long that I actually forgot I had it! It had just blended into the background.

I still need to fill in the seems in the trim and install the underlighting and then I am done! yay!
