Defiant Cards - Warriors of Plasm+

Post by Technique »

OK, here are my lists. Mine will look different than Knightt's because I have modified descriptions so that (IMO) it is easier to picture the item in my mind.

Also, my lists are contained in Excel files. Not a big deal except that I use comment boxes for more detailed descriptions so that not a lot of page space is taken up. The layout is also a little easier to understand when viewed in Excel format.

I would be happy to email my lists to anyone that is interested.

My lists are not complete. I'm sure there are a few things that could be on the lists but I don't know about them. Likewise, there are things on my list that probably do not exist. I have almost everything listed. If you have a specific question about an item then let me know.

There are bunches of posters and other merchandise. I will record their existence if I come across them but they are not my thing. I have mainly looked for the cards and the card related promo items.

The 3rd edition binder for these bad boys only recently surfaced in higher quantitities perhaps under a year ago on Ebay and we were only really able to confirm the the '3rd edition binder' actually existed as it was only talked about in rumors until that time. I am including a few photos of this great product. To me it appears that the actual binders are probably left over Dark Dominion binders. They included no chase cards but DID include an un-opened box of cards and new front AND back art (which was not included in previous binders, in fact, you had to take the current 'back art' which was really an order form and send it in with (if I remember correctly) $4.95 to recieve the actual back art designed for this binder.

The Premium Edition Tin (Limited to 5,555) had a cassette tape included within the sealed tin. It had Jim Shooter giving a 'preamble' to the 'Defiant' storyline in which 'voice actors' went through the story. I have listened to parts of it as it was sent to me on a mini-disc at one point but I was actually laughing so hard that I had to turn it off. LOL

But it was a pretty neat thing to have. Only recently did I aquire a 'free' 25,000 edition tin set from a guy up in Phoenix. Him and I have been friends for about a year now and he without a doubt has THE largest Defiant collection I have ever seen !!!

Collecting Defiant cards, books and articles is incredibly fun and not an overly costly endeavor. 'Back in the day' these cards and items were costing an arm and a leg (i.e. the Jim Shooter signed card @ $250), now pennies on the dollar. It seems like 'never seen before' items keep showing up from time to time as well. While frustrating... fun.

Chris, You should add the certificate signed by Shooter that I sent you to the Defiant list.

I'd like to know if anyone else has or seen on of these since they were only available at the Philly Con in '93.

Cool! I don't think I've ever seen the Revco Plasm bundle before. I remember the 3 pack of comics they had and the little 30 card sets they sold (I actually got one on Ebay, they're cool because unlike the normal cards, they're bordless and you can see a little more of the art)

I believe that I picked up my 3rd edition binder for $7.99 BIN on Ebay (depluto sent me the link which I clicked BIN right then and there) about a year ago and passed the word to a few folks on here. I was very happy that it came with back art. The back art for the first Plasm binders is VERY hard to find these days. I had to buy a whole binder just to get that piece of freakin' paper, but to me it was worth it as I now have the ad, the art and new art for the 3rd edition binder. I checked with the original seller of this 3rd edition binder (who raised the price after I started cueing people to the binders, he must have had 10 or so) and he does not think that he has any left.

The cards you refered to are VERY cool. I also like how there is more of the art to see AND are done in holofoil. I tell ya, I am the biggest sucker for holofoil cards. You find a way to play holofoil on a dog turd and put gold foil around the edges and I would buy it. That is what sent me in a downward spiral of collecting these cards again after all of these years.

DAMN good idea jedi !!!

jedimarley was kind enough to send me this certificate for my collection, further testament to his big heart and generous nature (not being flippant here either).
