Bragging rights - your best Dead Universe deal of late?

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Bragging rights - your best Dead Universe deal of late?

Post by Draco »

With So may DU mongers here it made sense to have bragging rights section for the Dead Universes.

I came up with the idea as i was off to bed and had already switched my PC off, so couldnt wait till morning to kick it off.

As we all love nothing more than finding that hidden gem.
So if you find that old school 90's premiums you wouldn't pay $30+ back in the day, but found for 99c on the bay tell us here.
That last piece of a DU puzzle to complete your set.
Even better you may have uncovered ( or think you have anyway till Bro J shoots you down    ) a new item we never knew existed.
Even if like myself you simply found an annoying piece of the puzzle like the Nexus # 77 on Sunday at the London comic show.

So heres the place to brag and show your latest finds.

Too keep it brimming with Excitement, please add pictures of what you snagged, especially on the HTF issues.
You know we all want to see for ourselves, so dont be shy.

Here's a nice one I just picked up. The Strangers tpb signed and numbered limited to 500

<a href="http://s510.photobucket.com/albums/s350 ... signed.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i510.photobucket.com/albums/s350 ... signed.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

It turns out I've had one of these for years, still sealed in the original shrinkwrap with a computer generated label on the front that says "The Strangers Collection Signed Limited to 500 $29.95". As it was sealed I didn't know about the extra page inside in the above pic. The pic above is from the one I just bought, it is number 181 of 500 and cost me $9 bucks. This should probably be added to the UV master list as it is the same type of signed page that is in the Prime signed hardcover.

That is a VERY nice find for $1.00 And in such good shape. Those foil Bravura covers (and Ultraforce holofoils) are pretty difficult to find without damage or some sort. :thumb:

And if I have not said it... Welcome to the Dead Universe.

When it WAS a Dead Universe, I think one of my best finds was a Unity Red in PRISTINE condition for $1.50. I got it home and was going to place it in a new bag-n-board only to find another Unity Red inside, a bit dinged up but not bad. I felt like that mean kid in Toy Story™... "COOL... double prizes !"

I only wish I had the $$$ to get some DU deals. I've seen some that I'd LOVE to have been able to get in on.

Well man, that is the GREAT thing about most of the DUs... 80-90% of any common run issues can be found in the cheap bins or sold in huge lots on Ebay for cheap. Ya just gotta look.

I was not 'really' going to get into Tekno Comics until I stumbled upon a $.10 cent box up on Tucson and I picked up 85% of the run in one outing. All were in bags/boards. I sat there thinking what the hell, why not ?

And besides, if you get into any of these I am sure that there are plenty of us that could help you out with missing issues. I can't tell you home many duplicate copies I have of New Universe, Continuity, Crossgen etc. I am TRYING to sort through them now... next weekend.... maybe.

The letter and gloves would be a SWEET score. But right now I am happy with my $12 copy of Birth of the Defiant Universe where I also got a Miracle on Broadway for $12 as well.

What was the gold holo of and didnt we say we wanted to see pics ? I can scan my Miracle on Broadway. Guy said that there was a flaw but dudes, I REALLY can't find it. I am SO tempted to get it CGCed but then there goes MY copy of MOB. I mean this book looks so tight it could very well be a 9.8. perhaps a high rez scan could prove me wrong. I'll see what I can do. Still sick as a dog... lost another 3 pounds. Looks like I will be in the low 180s by the end of the week. Damn stomach pains, today all I could do was a bowl of Raisin Bran that I choked down so that Alyssa would eat breakfast with me, a 1/2 cup of mac and cheese and about four rasberry dipped vanilla wafers. Just forced a bow of shredded wheat ceral for the fiber and my pain pills will knock me out for the night. I have a doctors appointment on Friday. Cripes, the Knightt Weight Loss Program 15 lbs in 5 days and pain like you've been gutshot. Not quite the diet I want to be on but it sure was a quick way to get under 200 lbs again and closer to my Army weight. It's like freakin' Ranger school all over again. :)

That's the thing...I've been too broke to afford a dime, lol. As they used to say, I'm almost too broke to pay attention. The price of balancing the priorities of school and children.

Sweet find for 12 us dollars.

Sorry to hear about the pain and eating troubles. I am the only one in my house not sick :thumb: .

I know what you mean about the worst possible way to lose weight. When I had malaria at least I was delirious! Actually didn't mind having it ~ lost alot of extra weight, got to take alot of valium :D, it was the ultaimate weight loss programme. Only problem is you get so weak you can barely walk let alone drink, and if you fall over you cannot get up.

was thinking of selling the glooves and letter, and binding birth into one of my hardcovers (when i get arround to it).

When you get around to it selling the gloves and letter, I would appreciate a swing at it.

Yeah, the weightloss is something else right now. I have went from 203 lbs to (as of this morning) 190 lbs.

Ah well, I needed to do this anyways. Throughout the Army I was always at 177-180, bout time I got back to that.

I just got in my Ash #1 'omnichrome' from Dynamic Forces. For some reason I never caught the word 'omnichrome' in the verbage. I rebagged this book and it looks beautiful in the right light !!! And I liked the price:

Not all that glitters is gold.

Sure, I probably overpaid a little. $8 shipped for three of them, but I don't have any of them and I hardly ever see Bravura silvers up for sale.
