Bragging rights - your best Dead Universe deal of late?

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

I just done a deal the other day for a short box containing most of the NU for £100 which is pretty cool.
Pretty sure i still have gaps myself, but rarely take things from the stock, more fun completing them all that way.

I guess its harder to find this kind of stuff now, mainly sat in store rooms or marked old 50p stock.
I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

Draco ~ if you buy a collection for the store ~ you do not fill gaps in your private collection?
Now that is will power!
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

If we get the obscure stuff and its not high grade then ill remove it, but the nicer books i never take, they have to go on sale. Of course as id happily own pretty much anything in print thats indy and no longer being published, the list is way too long and i havent dipped in for some time, there is a show on sunday in London, so looking forward to spending a few quid on 50p nonsense :)

Wow.
That's probably why don't own a comic shop.
Stock would be mine and the remains would be for sale.

My business plan doesn,t work so well for that.

I kinda hate you now. You may rarely take things from the stock but you still have them. (Until they sell, obviously.) Just thinking of all those New Universe comics in one place makes me drool. See. My collection of New U comics is still tiny. In fact, my recent acquisition tripled the size of my New U collection. So basically I'm jealous.

It is an old joke. Shortly before Valiant announced they were going to start publishing Shadowman, anytime anyone would ask Dino about it, he would look confused and say that Shadowman was an Ultraverse character. On the forums we were saying that Night Man was Valiant as a continuation of that joke.

Found a metric ton of Ultraverse comics at my local flea market for a quarter a piece. most were in really good condition. I also saw a lot of New Universe and Crossgen books but passed for the time being due to how many comics I had picked up that day. Hopefully they'll still be there when I return in the coming weeks

-Elven #0
-Prime #2 and #5
-Hardcase #2, #5, and #6
-Prototype #2-#4, #6, and #12
-Night Man #5, #9, and #11
-Mantra #1-#2, and #6
-The Solution #2-#4, and #9
-Solitaire #1, #8-#9, and #12
-Firearm #3 and #10

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I sold 63 different Ultraverse books to a buyer on eBay for $9.99 plus $6.22 shipping, so I think he got a pretty good deal. About 26 cents a book.

I was happy to sell them as I got them for free, so anything out of them is found money for me.

Found my way into a new (to me) LCS today ... bought 34 Defiant Comics back issues for twenty-five cents a piece (all but one in NM condition) ... including the Plasma #0 paper edition ... I know its a hard book to find, but I don't remember what it was originally in ... if not Previews, then maybe one of the now defunct distributors. I love quarter bins!

Nice items picked up recently ... the ashcans are rare I think ... the Raver is signed by Walter Koenig (although I think it will have to be authenticated ... no one would fake a Simpson or Bissette, so I'm not worried about those) ... the Legacy #0 gold variant is one I've wanted for a while, while the Vamperotica was a fluke (and bonus that its signed with a COA) ... the Secret City Sago #0 Red variant was just something I liked when I saw it. Total cost: $13.50!

Ashcans are always fun.

Legacy was good, too bad it tanked so quickly. I keep an eye out for the prism cover.
