Sure, I probably overpaid a little. $8 shipped for three of them, but I don't have any of them and I hardly ever see Bravura silvers up for sale.
Oh dude, that jusy plain hurts ya know.

Oooo, nice! I missing a few of those Ash issues, including that one. I think. I really need to go through my collection and find out what I'm missing.

Not anything I managed to pick up, but today I just couldn't catch a break on the 'Bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0285919532

Two signed Triumphant books, one DF Prototype 1 (not a variant) and a signed Deathmate.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0301613922

Hardcase lot. My snipe was set way low, but the seller had something else that made me think one of those signed Hardcases might be really interesting...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0301606307

What are the chances one of those signed, limited to 500 Mantras was one of the Archival editions? Stupid work and my not being able to see my eBay auctions end. Seems like for at least 6 of the 8 hours I was there, I was standing and watching the tv. At least I get paid more and more hours than the last gun counter.

Wow, those hologram cover issues go for quite a bit don't they?

Some more than others. I paid less than $10 for a CGC 9.6 Mantra hologram.

They are all rad, though. The Ultraforce 1 Gold is worth maybe $3 at most and if you hold it at the right angle, you can actually see colour in the hologram.

Here's a pic of something I just picked up

Breed Book of Genesis signed/numbered tpb #325/500

<a href="http://s510.photobucket.com/albums/s350 ... nedtpb.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i510.photobucket.com/albums/s350 ... nedtpb.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I checked and this isn't listed on the Bravura checklist. While looking at the Bravura checklist it made me wonder, why are the DF signed/coa editions included there and not on the Ultraverse list? I think Ultraverse DF signed/coa editions should be included as well as the Vol.2 Infinity and #1s signed w/Malibu coa, but then again I'm a completist and have most of them so I may be biased heh.

My LCS has just unleashed several boxes of 50 cent stuff. When I was in a couple weeks ago asking for Valiant stuff, they laughed at me and said I should wait for when they put these boxes out, as more than likely whatever Valiant they had would be in there. :|

No Valiants yet except for a crudload of Deathmate books (multiple copies of everything except Red), and from what I saw today, they've only worked on the letters A-E of the alphabet for their backstock inventory.

But, I pulled out some stuff I was glad to find:

From Malibu:
Image

What was interesting was that they had quite a few Malibu books I hope to go back and get. Multiple copies of Exiles, All-New Exiles, Elven, Bruce Lee and several Bravura titles like Breed and Dreadstar, but those are not high on my radar.

The 1/2 issue is funny in that someone has kept it in the Ulti-Pro sealed bag with the "Official Hero Original Seal of Authenticity" seal on it, but the top of the Ulti-Pro protector has cracked so that you can nearly take the comic out, and the number of which edition it is has nearly worn off!
To make it even funnier, it had an original price sticker of $20.00 on it! :o

The Prime/Captain America was filed with Cap. One copy, so I thought I'd grab it. I like Prime, I like Norm Breyfogle, and I didn't have this issue. Works for me!

From Crossgen:
Image

Crossgen was also woefully under-represented in the bargain bin. These were the only two issues I could find, but I figure it would be a proper start to restoring a Crossgen collection. At fifty cents, its hard to beat!

Last, but not least:
Image

I have not been actively pursuing Eclipse comics, but I'm a Dave Stevens fan and want to put together a proper collection of his work, and this cover is fantastic! To find it so cheap just made my day!

I also rescued some Batman comics and an issue of Captain Sternn from Kitchen Sink I needed from fifty cent oblivion! It was a good day!

Man, I have A LOT of Airboy extras... I mean A LOT. You interested ?

I would not say every issue is NM but they were good enough for 'me' to pick up. Then I started buying lots to grab a few then I bought an entire lot where I didnt need ONE issue. I basically bought doubles.

LMK...

If it's a good read, sure! This was my first Airboy due to the Stevens cover, but glancing through the interiors, it looks pretty cool!

I'll PM you.

You did okay, but I personally hate those books because they reprint several different titles in the same book, so you have to go back and forth between the books to read one title at a time.

BUTT Image if you are trying to be the completist, I would say thats not too bad. I don't have a one of these, just can't seem to find them so I can't speak as to the quality of the books (or is it better described as a 'digest'?). I am sure that SOMEDAY when I complete my Crossgen common run, I will hunt these down. I only have two TPBs as well.

$1.28 per TPB? Yeah, I'd say that's a good deal.

Like it's been mentioned, they were compendium style reprinting Crossgen popular titles at the time, but at the time I found them useful to try out series I may not have.

If you are going for all the siungular issues, they are not worth your time but as a Crossgen completist, that's totally worth what you paid!

I have been dabbling in Crossgen for a little while and I figured these would give me something to read instead of waiting until I get them all until I can read them.

That is where my thick-headedness comes into play. Here it is, I LOVE Crossgen books but I will not start reading them until I have them all (common issues. Luckily there are few and far between variants/special/HTF books. Soon though.... I hope soon. :thumb:

I KNOW !!!! A board member (dac55) had sent me the previews set and I got into two of the books and said, "Thats IT, I am going to collect this DU." Luckily, my LCS was dumping many of these issues for when all totalled it came out to $.35 cents an issue. How could I pass that up ? Even at that price, I picked up extras so that I could trade/give away.

Just someting about these books. I know, it is not a super hero heavy universe but the whole 'sigil' interwoven story, the colors used and some VERY nice artwork drew me to these books. Then I started reading about the companies policies and one REALLY made me glad to start the DU... one of Crossgen's policies is that the person that drew the book would always draw the cover as well. Unlike so many books today where you have this GREAT cover and inside you find the scribblings of a 4 year old.

I don't remember how long this company was in business (I 'think' about 3 and a half years +/-) but MAN did they crank out some titles of what ?

The whole Edge and Forge and going to TPB very quickly didnt sit very well with me, still doesnt as I sit on the fence from time to time whether or not I will go after them. Some of the TPBs still command a decent price considering it is a DU. But from what I gather the company went under for more financial reasons than lack of fan base, wasnt it ? Or perhaps a combination of both ?

I actually really liked the concept of Edge and Forge in that if offered an anthology of titles for a reader to get into, a business model that has worked for the Japanese for decades! Yet, the price point when new was a bit steep. It really needed to be a cheaper product for what it was.

I always got the impression that Crossgen had a fantastic following but it was due to poor management that it went under and a lot of the creators got stiffed. It's why some of those titles just stopped, as the creators weren't going to keep producing for free.

I really need to read up on my Crossgen again. The quality was so nice!
