Just try collecting Malibu Comics (Genesis line) of The Protectors !!! They had a great looking Direct Edition cover and a so-so looking Newsstand Edition cover for just about EVERY issue !!! Luckily I got all of mine in one auction but some of those issues can be tough to come by.

kikitwitme wrote:I'm a DU junkie. I use to like collecting from a new company from their infancy, from their first book than watch them bloom, so I can say I was there from the "beginning". Others I thought were going to be the next Marvel. I remember telling my comic shop owner that some Topps comics "Bombastic 1" was going to be HOT because it was the first Image inter-company crossover featuring Savage Dragon. (I bought 3 copies.) But what did I know? That’s why I'm not into stock. Finally, some others I just wait till that company stops printing and I try to get all there books for a quarter each. Knocking out a companies whole catalog for a mere $4.75 plus tax.

At any rate. to name a few I have: Triumphant, Lighting, Continuity, Atlas/Seaboard, Defiant, Broadway Comics, the list goes on and on. I used to think I completed everything from each universe until I read each companies issue list. Which sucks.........now I find out that Vicki from Atlas had a 4th issue, Valeria #1 had some variants, a white cover......AND a White w/Gold Foil!!! There were newsstand Continuity variants!! NecroMantra 4 had a limited edition!!!! Broadway had a give away book??? I guess I wasn't finished collecting DU books after all.......and here I thought I was done with them a few years ago. It’s like finding out there’s an episode of your favorite show that you’ve never knew existed but you have no way of finding a copy to watch.
Truly spoken like one of us.

I consider Kirby's work a universe in its self.

I am not so much a dead universe collector than a dead comic company collector.

Working on Speakeasy at present. 3 left to find, not including error editions.

I also recommend, Continuity, Comics Greatest World (Dark Horse), many superhero related Comico and Innovation comics like Justice Machine and Hero Alliance.

Lots of them out there... Rogue Trooper is an awesome title as well.

No Defiant on that list?

Do yourself a favour, look it up. It's a rather small DU, less than 50 issues altogether (I think) and all but 3 or 4 issues can be had ultra-cheap at any given time.

I didn't think I was quite there yet (just teetering on the brink and toying with the idea of collecting Crossgen and, after a discussion with Draco, Atlas) but I guess with the talk of New Universe and Impact I have to put my name down.
