Ok i'll fess up...

I collected Comico when the first came out and and thoroughly loved it as well as Megalith and Ms mystic oh and Cyberrad.

On a trip last month bin diving I came across a WoP #1 to check it out.

In reality I am a DU virgin still in the closet!

I forgot, I also bought one America's best comic, Wildstorm, I think. It is Smax #3, but I am not collecting them, I just got it cause I like Top 10 so much.

I re-read L.A.W. the other day (DC) and it has made me want to collect Charlton Action Heroes. I really shouldn't add another DU to the pile at this time...

What kind of logic is THAT ?

ANY time is a good time to add a new DU. :thumb:

most of my Charlton's are DC reprints, other than Doomsday +1

is Wildstorm now dead? I still pick up Wild CATS on occasion

Also, does New Universe, and Vertigo count? I have a ton of the New Universe

Vertigo is still in publication. There has been a recent New universe reboot (as Newuniversal). Wildstorm is a year or thereaboiyts into a relaunch.

Has DC done archive editions of Charlton stuff?

I am, but I'm pretty discriminating about what I'll complete, and usually I'll only pick these books up at a bargain (other than Valiant, where sometimes I'll pay a little more).

ooops, I had Whitman and Charlton Mixed up, Whitman reprinted some of DC's "DC Comics Presents" issues, and I'd mistakenly said that most of my Charlton comics were those reprints.

Doomsday is a decent series, but mostly because John Byrne did the art. It wasn't a very long series either. I think it lasted like eight or nine issues.

anyone have any info on a DU called Magazine Enterprizes? from what I've found they were only around for about 10 years in the 40's and 50's, and I have one comic of theirs, called "Captain Inapak, the Space Ace" It's not a great comic or anything, I just thought it was a bit unique since it was a promotional comic for Inapak Chocalate Flavored Vitamin Supliment (sort of a Ovaltine rip of sorts), not sure if it came pacaged with a carton of the drink or what though.

Personally, I don't think something like the above would qualify as a "Dead Universe". I'm sure there's probably little or no continuity in between issues. Also, the main attraction for many of us collecting these "Dead Universes" is that they are generally dirt cheap. I'm sure that's not the case with this company.

Well 'technically' the New Universe (IMO) is still dead. New Universal took an old concept (universe) and rewired it, put a few new speakers on it and a HDTV. But it is still not the old NU from years ago, different but the same, kind of alternate reality same.

I am going to keep New Universe where it is (as a DU) even though 'New Universal' is out. I HIGHLY recommend the New Universal books, VERY good reading and great art. Honestly, I have three issues to read before I am finished with it but so far so good.

I was going to add Image/Wildstorm at a point in the future but... well... there ARE new titles coming out, well the same titles but they are years after the Image books under the same name went defunct.

I 'count' my old Image books as a Dead Universe and plan to keep it that way but only personally. I have read ALL of the 'new' books, Cyberforce, WildCATs, Deathblow, Wetworks and I have to say that I am deeply disappointed. Wetworks is... ok but the last issue of WildCATs (#1), was so confusing that I could not tell you one thing that happened in that issue. Not one thing. Deathblow started out promising but now I am sitting here saying to myself "WTF ?". I guess now Image/Wildstorm are trying to tell these wonderful things called...."Stories" and it is just not working for them. As a long time fan of Deathblow, Wetworks etc, I can 'catch on' but God bless the person reading these titles for the first time. I can only imagine that the newbies think that the books are written in another language.

I WILL give Cyberforce an A for effort on the stories but the Pat Lee art is SO atrocious that I canceled the title a while ago.... and what a shame as Cyberforce was my #1 book back in the day.

That IS a damn fine looking cover. If the interior art was anywhere comparable, I would probably start picking these up as well. Stuff like this is what got me into THUNDER Agents, that and a little help from Stu.

I was lucky enough to pick up Major Inapak in my LFM's quarter bin. it's a littele worn, but in overall very good shape, I just flipped through the book once, but I remember cheesy dialog, like in the end of the comic, Major Inapak has saved the day, and his sidekick (the kid pictured in the astronaut suit) says something to the effect of "Wow Major Inapak, your a hero..." etc, and the Inapak character replies "You could be just like me if you drink a tall glass of Inapak Vitamin suppliment a day" not direct quotes of course, but you get the picture, the comic's just a promotional item for a ovaltine-like product.

thanks for the info on the company Brother J. I was just curious to find out if they did any series or anything, cause the artwork does standout on the Inapak comic, but was just a promotional tool, so I doubt it was big on plotlines.
