Post by Elveen »

So is anyone going to Big Wow Comic Con?

I'll be going for my first time in a few weeks.
I've heard thsi show has really grown since Wondercon has moved South.

I'm really looking forward to it.

Small chance. I'll be just getting back from a business trip with 14 hours of jet lag. I really want to go, but I'll probably just hang out with my boys. They aren't yet of comic book age.

Any Valiant artists attending?

I am planning on going for one of the days. I have heard the show has grown by leaps and bounds since Wonder Con moved to Anaheim. Big Wow has tried to step up and fill that vacuum as a big Nor Cal show. The artist list seems decent, some names on there I haven't ever seen at a show or who do very few shows. I am looking forward to that for sure, Mike Zeck anyone?

Zeck is a legend probably best known for his Captain America work, though he has done a ton of covers, mostly for Marvel. He did some Batman covers also. The guys work is iconic, probably his most recognizable stuff is Kraven's Last Hunt in Amazing Spider-Man, Batman 10 nights of the beast covers, most of Marvel Comics Secret Wars & covers (yeah that famous cover to #8 with Spidey in the black costume!), too many GI Joe covers to list and a TON of Captain America covers including one with Deathlok #287, Cap No More #332 and of course Cap Annual #8 probably his most famous work.

I will have that book right out front.

I need to do some research to see what other work he did, I'm sure I have more of his books.

Yes, I've done it the last 2 years. It was actually my first ever show. I like Josh, he's a good dude.
They need to get a "big" guest or 2 to establish themselves.

Yeah he has a ton of books he has done covers for, less where he did the interiors too. Also don't overlook Mark Brooks, he only does one or two West Coast shows a year and his stuff is really solid. If you have any of his stuff I would have it displayed prominently as well.

Here is the link for Zeck's wiki page it has a pretty good list of his works for the big two to make it easy for you.

There are some great dudes in artist alley.

Nick Dragotta is going to be there.

I might have to try and get a sketch on a EoW #1.

It is currently 2:15 in the am on Monday morning.
But I got home safe, so that is good.
I need to wake up in 3 hrs and teach my AP kids ... So that is not so good.

Full report coming.
