NC Comic Con 2014
Yeah, I know it's 8 months away, but I had an absolute blast here last year. A nice, small, old-school con with a great film festival in the building going on all the while. Valiant has already announced they'd be there (they were representing last year big time) and here's the guest list this year so far:
Doug Braithwaite
Bernard Chang
Sean Murphy
Nathan Edmonson
Mitch Gerads
John Paul Leon
Bob Fingerman
Joe Infurnari
Sean Chen
Bob Burden
Bernard Chang
Tommy Lee Edwards

Film Festival has announced three of the films to be shown: Howard the Duck, Akira and Flash Gordon. The Film Fest was definitely a highlight for me last year (saw the 1990 TMNT, The Crow (for the first time) and Batman: Mask of the Phantasm)

John Barrowman will be there. I had to Google him to see what he was famous for, but he seems like a big deal.

Love John Barrowman. If he's holding his own fan panel and if it's anything like I always read of his San Diego panels, should be hilarious and raucous.
I definitely plan on attending now.

Re: NC Comic Con 2014
So, this is a month away now. Anybody have any idea what VEI might be bringing to the table, literally and figuratively?
I still have an IMMACULATE (got to be a 9.9) copy of some garbage vol. 1 X-Force with Deadpool & Syrin on the cover, and lots of white space that I was going to get Frank Cho to sketch on last year (that would have been a pretty unique piece) but never went. Now I am debating on Sean Chen (probably him) or Phil Noto this year, and then to make it extra unique, I might get Fiona Staples to sketch a small Syrin on it, too.
That is, if I have the money...

Someone needs to give Doug Braithwaite some razzing (if he is a nice guy! ) about never answering my Facebook messages! Lol

I am strongly considering taking my 11yo son and going.
Doesn't caniac live in NC?
Can everyone who's going meet up for dinner after the con Saturday night? Maybe we can get Dino drunk and get him to spill secrets and promise us all ludicrous amounts of rare and limited freebies...

You, me, Caniac, Tim... I know there are others, but that's all I can think of right now.geocarr wrote: Doesn't caniac live in NC?

Dinner is questionable for me, only because IDK how much available $ I will have. Heck, I am still trying to decide if I am going, much less to get a one-day or a two-day ticket.

I don't know about dinner either. I go with a couple of friends that I'm almost sure already have our evenings (and next morning's hangovers) planned. Definitely up for a meetup though. Maybe after the panel?

Re: NC Comic Con 2014
That you know of.
Well, a lot of what I want to do depended on this job I really thought I was going to get - but it's been over a week, more than enough time to run a background check, and they have yet to call me back, so it looks like even simple part-time work is beyond my grasp. I think I can scrape up $20 for a one-day ticket, but anything else (from my CGC SS hopes to even dinner) is probably not gonna happen.

Didn't you post about doing some self-sustaining gardening type stuff a few years ago. If so, how's it going? My family is increasing our garden and added some fig tress, and blackberries and chickens for eggs and we're enjoying it and learning a lot. If I've got you mixed up with another board member, then I apologize for TMI.Tim wrote:I don't know about dinner either. You don't need booze to make Dino talk. dude loves to talk Valiant.
All you need is proximity.

That was me. Going great. Harvested around 700 lbs of Produce this year and still haven't got all the pears and apples and whatever fall stuff we're in for. Not doing eggs anymore as my aunt's dogs had their way with my chickens, but I've been a vegan for 2 years so I don't miss the eggs much.geocarr wrote:Didn't you post about doing some self-sustaining gardening type stuff a few years ago.
