As some of you know I have been trying to put together a complete CGC 9.8 set of VH1 and VEI books. I have all the books release prior to this year but one.

From 2018 and before I need Harbinger Renegade 1 Gold in CGC 9.8

I need all the 2019 Gold books in CGC 9.8 which I believe are
1) Bloodshot Rising Spirit 1 Gold
2) Life and Death of Toyo Harada 1 Gold
3) PSILords 1 Gold

For 2019 titles I do not believe Fallen World 1, Punk Mambo 1, Incursion 1, Forgotten Queen 1 or Killers 1 had Gold issues but please correct me if I am wrong. (I think titles still need at least 6 issues to get a gold issue)

I recently bought gold issues for these 3 and none of them came back in 9.8 raw condition. It's too bad. The card stock on these are fantastic, but they are also very unforgiving of damage.

Yes, they all have the thick cardstock, so if there is a slightly blunted corner, or a spine crease, it's nearly impossible to press or correct them. When I've been offered gold books at the Valiant booths at cons, those are pretty beat up. I think they just throw them in boxes, and they get banged around when they ship and set up.

No dice on the Toyo GOLD. The three copies of that I had were all 9.4’s; not even one could’ve cut a 9.6  .

My single Psi-Lords GOLD copy is extremely tight; but like Steve said, slightly blunted corners can be very unforgiving, which is truly unfortunate. Given that, I’ll reserve to call it just an extremely solid 9.6. Still one really purty book, just in case anyone wants a super nice raw copy of it :poke: ...

Fortunately (for you), with one of my copies of BRS GOLD, there is NO question in my mind it’s a solid 9.8. I won’t be so bold as to call it a 9.9, but it is exceptionally clean AND sharp. I’ll be subbing it with a handful of others here hopefully within the next week or so, so we’ll see just how full of sh!t I really am 8-) ...

When did the Gold books switch to the thick card stock covers? Despite having all of them (except Renegades) before the 2019 books I do not have any raw copies except Rai 1.
