Bloodshot #0 Manufacturing Error Variant

Post by jasont215 »

I was browsing the bay and noticed this listing <not mine>.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bloodshot-0-Ma ... SwFqNZSuDi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm going through my books and found a raw copy just like it. I'll be listing it soon but wanted to see if anyone would be interested for a fair price? I honestly have no idea what to ask for it but the listing price seems very unrealistic. Any idea how common or rare this error is?

I think these have come up several times in the past. Ask Greg, but I don't think there is much of a market for them. I could be wrong, but I'm sure one of the long time members would help you out if you messaged them.

The general rule is that 1990s Valiant chromium books with regular cover prices aren't worth much as errors. The chromium process was still new for creating them and the print runs were very high (300,000 to 900,000 copies).

Of course there are lots of errors on a new process with print numbers that high. They might be cool to look at, but there's no reason to pay much for one. There are very likely hundreds, if not thousands of errors just like it somewhere in unsold stock and old collections that have never been checked... because the regular print run was hundreds of thousands and the books haven't been worth cover price since they were new.

Even a slabbed 9.8 chromium regular cover price with an error that looks cool might still be worth under $50. Errors on the incentive books might be very rare. Errors on common books are... common.

This book is 100% NOT A THING, and the seller knows this. They are hoping to have some unsuspecting buyer with deep pockets and zero clue.

There have been a number of sellers over the past 1-2 years who have contacted me about this, or have posted about it and each time I have informed them it is NOT special.

Yet, with this knowledge they STILL list an 8.5 for $900+!
