Greg's G20 is coming!
In June 1997, some guy named Greg took himself a wife of about 20 years.
In September 1997, that guy named Greg started an account on some internet site called EBAY and starting buying his dream collectibles, including comics.
About the same time in 1997, that same Greg guy made his first "homepage" online and added his first webpage devoted to VALIANT comics (all caps in those days).
By 1999, those Valiant web pages were growing fast enough that it was a Valiant Comics website... and Greg bought "valiantcomics.com" for the expansion.
In 2002, ValiantComics.com added its first message board for Valiant fans which sank into the swamp.
In 2003, ValiantComics.com added its second message board which burned down and then sank into the swamp.
In 2004, ValiantComics.com added its third message board over at ValiantFans.com and that third board stayed up!
In 2005, some of those fans bought some bankrupt publisher that the world had almost forgotten if not for some fans online.
The rest... as they say... is history.
The 20th Anniversary of that guy named Greg having his first wife, his first ebay account, and his first Valiant webpage is 2017. He still has all three.
He also has 20 years of Valiant inventory that has been gathered world wide through that web of the same name.
For the 20th Anniversary with his wife, he drove her 4,000+ (200 times 20) miles over 20 days to travel through 20 U.S. states and Canadian territories.
For the 20th Anniversary of his first ebay account and his first Valiant website, Greg will hold a Once-In-A-20-Year-Sized sale from the ValiantComics.com Collection.
The starting date will be set very soon. Racers get ready to start your wallets...
G20 is coming!
Feel free to post excited chatter below... but no, if it's unique, I probably won't sell it.
It's a 20 year sale, not my bereaved estate. I'm not going anywhere. It just takes me about 20 years to handle the thought of selling.

Congrats, Greg! My wife and I will be celebrating 20 years in October too. If I keep buying comics, I might not make it to 21 years!

Re: Greg's G20 is coming...
Thanks for the excitement! I have purposefully bought many things through the years and tried to forget them... so I am actually pretty excited to figure out what all I will be offering, too.
There will definitely be slabs, but there will be raw (no slab) books, too. Maybe some art. Maybe some older fan projects.
It should be fun.

The first step in "unleashing the hoard" is figuring out what is in there!
I guess I could make the re-discovery more fun for all of us...
OK, I'll reveal some of the "behind the curtain stuff" along the way.
Reveal #1 - I have multiple climate-controlled storage locations.
One reason why I laugh when you guys joke about finding the "Holland Hoard" is that I know it's not in one place.
There is a location that looks like this: http://www.valiantcollection.com/images/storage1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There is a different location that looks like this: http://www.valiantcollection.com/images ... slabs1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There is at least one other location that looks like a mixture of those two. Full disclosure, a couple locations also contain antique furniture which won't be in G20.

In all seriousness, I raise a glass of the finest whiskey in my house. A TOAST!!
When the roaring flames of your love
have burned down to embers,
may you find that you've married your best friend.
Cheers! May you have 20 more great years (of all three)

Re: Greg's G20 is coming...
Well, I am a huge fan of Japanese whiskey, so I could pour a Yamazaki 18, that would fit this occasion (it's the only 18 year old my wife lets me flirt with).BloodShot wrote:And what whiskey (or whisky) might that be ?TheeBaldMoose wrote:In all seriousness, I raise a glass of the finest whiskey in my house. I would put some of my local whiskey up against some of the best down whiskey road, as I believe Woodenville whiskey is some of the best. I have a bottle that was one of the first 20 bottles of bourbon ever bottled in Washington state, I'd crack that for a 20th...
I'd go out and buy another bottle of Johnny Walker King George V, that was a superb bottle, very much worth a 20th...
Best bet, take her to a place we have around here locally called the Multnomah Whiskey Library ( https://mwlpdx.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ). Walls and walls of great whiskeys and whiskys from all over!
Before collecting comics, I dabbled in the fine arts of whiskey (I drank my money)

Congratulations, Greg.
And thanks.
Been fun watching from the sidelines.

Re: Greg's G20 is coming...
Here's what changed my wife's mind... about 7 years ago, we decided to do some upgrades around our home. Because I collect more than Valiant here and there, I have a few "other comics" that I've acquired through the years. She watched as I sold one comic book for $7,000 to do all the things she wanted done to the house.mkb28 wrote:Congrats, Greg! My wife and I will be celebrating 20 years in October too. Now, she loves my comics.
As an added bonus, to keep her from suggesting that I sell my comics more often, I can remind her that the one comic I sold for $7,000 is now worth about $16,000... but, as she knows, I didn't keep it.
