True, but it was April 2013, so new Valiant (VEI) was less than a year old, and all I knew what that I liked the cover and that my local shops didn't order 25 copies.

I can't tell what I paid for my copy, as I bought a huge lot from Valman offline, including some 9.9s and key books. BS 3 variant was one of the harder early variants to find when it came out (the hardest for me), and it commanded a pretty high price when it did sell - $40+ if I recall. That being said, the variants typically were more easily obtained in high grade back then, unlike now. So, while I'm surprised there are 7 9.8s, there is good reason for it (incentivized to grade as they were difficult to find, and the books are generally in higher condition then newer variants).

It is an amazing cover, this is very true. Knowing what you paid in 2013 makes me fell a little better about what I purchased mine at, $165.

I've talked to Jay regarding this and other variants. He said he had a ton of them at one point, but then Dr Noel purchased a bunch. The one that I purchased from Dr Noel could possibly have been one Bloodshot already owned at one point, or Dr Noel submitted one of his raws

It is possible that Valiant has several copies in a box in storage; however, I doubt it is many, most would likely be in NM- condition, and would be surprised if they were all bagged/boarded. VEI books around that time were often damaged to some degree which is why it is so difficult to find many in NM+/M condition.

It is already hard to find these books. Once Bloodshot becomes a household name, it is going to get much worse.
