Re: David Lapham Project???
This (might) be my last hurrah... I have chosen JMatt to replace me, and he will do most of the work... it's good to be king.
This is going to be an expensive project- the budget is around $1200.
You guys should all know by now I am a straight shooter, and this would be an incredible thing if we gave it wings to fly.
Keep the "count me in" comments coming...

Let me raise the budget to $2000 to bring the big boys in.
This is a rare chance we have to grab him for a day or two to get this done.

Re: David Lapham Project???
I am so in for this. David is such a great writer/artist ! He gave valiant its house style initially to shoot for. And all his work since has been so varied and innovative. And he is so had to track down as he never is at conventions. I so wish he do like a private signing thing with CGC or CBCS. Anyway I ramble, but I'm definitely in !
read me, HC/TPB me; sign me, sketch me, slab me.

Re: David Lapham Project???
This is the general idea.
Hire him to draw 8 sketches @$50 plus a piece for $300? $400?
Then interview him.
Then have JayJay color the big piece and make it into a comic book that they both sign... the book will have the art and cover and the interview... I can design it and it'll look nice. Color cover, B&W interior.
I imagine sets #1-9 will come with a piece of art and I'll print um... 50? 100? comic books.
I'll get them all signed by Lapham and Jay Jay.
This'll cost about $1400 with all the shipping etc...
The big boys buy sets 1-9 and will recoup most of the money, the 50-100 comics signed X2 would go for what? $6.00 per copy? $10 with shipping?
If there's money left over (which there won't be), it'll go to something for you guys... maybe I'll track down Don Perlin!
Sound like a plan?

GUYS! If you want to go nuts, commission him 8 pages X $400 (with Bob Almond ink).
But let's not go crazy... unless you're all crazy for Lapham.

Re: David Lapham Project???
We could always make a comic book. We can hire him for 8 pages. We can name it Harbinger #150??? and it would have Pete living out his life... we can make a story. Are you big boys listening???
I can get Shooter to write it too, if need be. You guys have to tack on a royalty fee for writer.
Guys?!! I need help!

Re: David Lapham Project???
Once again we're looking at $1400 for the project.,.. and I haven't even spoken to Lapham to hammer out details.
We can make something really good but it's going to be really expensive to pull off.
I am putting this on the back burner until I get those Shooter bookmarks out.

Re: David Lapham Project???
Jim Shooter said he would put me in touch with Lapham. Sweet.
Shooter has not had the time to go through his VALIANT run yet as he was at a con all weekend. But I am sure he will!

Re: David Lapham Project???
Guys- if we're going to make this happen it will be expensive. It entails DL art, coloring by JJ, comics, autos and shipping back and forth from coast to coast. I can probably even get Jim to write a story then we'd have three autos!
The bottom line is I need people dedicated to making this happen in order for it to happen. I can't do it all myself.
The finished product would be the envy of all VALIANT fans...
