Would love to help, however both covers I own are already matched with make-readies (which as well know is a difficult task in itself). I can only account for the Aja and Djurdjevic QR covers; the rest are likely out there.

I also recommend asking the question on FB in the group as I recall more than a few folks claiming that they owned one...

Neither one of us was willing to assign a price. I was hoping you'd find one elsewhere to be honest. Sorry we couldn't work it out.

I can't imagine anyone breaking up their make ready set to sell just the cover. There are what, 50 of these? I think we've seen them sell for a coupla hundred bucks. That's gonna be a tough thing to find.

Well if i have a make ready with no cover, than i figured there must be a cover with no interior. And thanks for considering parting with a cover Mr. Woogieman i didnt know if yours were complete or if you just had covers but i honestly dont know what just a cover is worth.

This was my thinking, and after a bit of waiting, time did prove this thinking right.

Same. I got one on the office tour in 2012 and I can't remember when I got the second.

By the way, I found your cover. Chainnball has it. Read here.

What's wild is;

1.) There are supposedly 50 of these; yet, very few (to zero) photos from collectors showing exactly what each has.

2.) Those that DO have them, at least for the most part, have not often discussed if they ALSO have the cover(s); or which one(s) if they do. I wonder how many of either type actually exist (and in what quantity).

3.) I don't know that I have heard of a Make Ready cover for any other title than X-O Manowar #1. I have seen the Make Ready cover for X-O Manowar #2, but not the interior portion.

It might be interesting to see what the CENSUS is on these, to get an idea of what actually is out there presently. I know about (or have been told of) only a handful of owners (several of which are in this thread).

Here are mine for reference:

X-O MANOWAR #1 (QR Make-Ready) and X-O MANOWAR #1 (Aja Make-Ready) 2012 pre-production un-cut prototypes.

Census data would be super helpful to see how many of each cover was produced. I suppose that this would also help determine which covers are more scarce than others which also might help dictate some kind of base value. I hope that people who own these, not board members, understand what they own and did not round file them. I hope that if I continue to bump this thread one is likely to present itself.

I'll check mine when an opportunity presents itself. I'm not sure if I'd want to part with it even if I found a cover only but at least we'd know where it is.

Jesse, the two you purchased from Chain are full sets? Or just his two covers? Weird that they would be separated from the entire set.

To answer DBS's questions. Here is what I can tell you.

I'm attaching some photos below in showing what exactly this is.

For the record.... Back in Nov 2013, when Bruce and I were working with VEI on special promos. Post Round #1, VEI sent me package that included (10) X-O Manowar #1 ready makes. These were directly shipped to me from VEI's offices.

Those 10 ready makes were coverless. So it safe to say that the covers alone are very tough to find. (more rare than the make readies themselves.)

This is the info we were given by Peter Stern.

"At the start of VEI, there were approximately 50 pre-production "make readies" delivered to VEI offices before X O Manowar #1 went to print. These were sent for final review and approval before the first issue of VEI went to press. So they are historically important since they mark the very first book of the revived Valiant universe and their low number and unique format make them very unique among collectibles."

Bruce, Greg, BTE, Hawkeyeps, Myself were recognized and earned a copy for helping promote VEI. Bruce and I ran a few more contests and given these to contest winners as prizes. I believe DBS is one of those grand prize winners.

That being said, I can't even remember if kept myself a copy of the make ready. If I did, I have certainly not seen them or have completely forgotten where they are. :o

Well I opened the vault and I have one set of X-O Manowar 1 make ready interiors, and two covers - the Aja and the QR variant. I also have a make ready cover only for X-O Manowar 2. Pics below.

Sweet! So far we can account for two QR Make Ready, and two Aja Make Ready covers.

Wonder if there is a Nord, or a Gold Make Ready?
