I went back and forth looking at 100 different little things ... I can't tell any differences with any of the small pieces, shadow squiggles or glass shards.

Glad to have won Magnus 12 p8 and the last page, but man I know I WAY overpaid! I'm going to have to give up buying art for a while with the clams I spent tonight..Still, I'm glad to get pages from my all time favorite Valiant issue and character (Turok)

Magnus 12 page 8 is a fantastic page... congrats!

I love the pre-Unity pages that show the cover art in the story. That was one of the things about Valiant that was awesome... too bad it's very rare now.

Yeah. On one page I put an (in my view) insane bid that still wasn't close. Actually I needed Dan's help on judging the Magnus 0 splash after literally comparing every single line. There is some line-work missing, but I agree it is the real deal. Still didn't bid close to what it went for. I'm glad it ended in the community and admire Greg's determination. Generally almost all pages were historically significant. I for instance won the first page with W23 and the page where Rai sets up his sacrifice. Would have liked more, but am very happy about those.

I got two pages (below). I'm super stoked. We sold our house last week and this was my present to myself.

I bid on Greg's page as I thought it was the quintessential Magnus splash. Honestly, I like it better than any of the Magnus covers. It's a great piece and will look amazing on a wall. Congrats, Greg!

I wish I could have gotten the Rai 0 pages as well. It's my favorite V1 issue.

I love this one. I would have paid much more for it. Absent owning the Harbinger 1 cover, this is the next best thing for me, and honestly, probably more iconic in many ways.

I bought this one as I thought it was fun and didn't think I would win. No characters, but pretty iconic robots.

Thanks!

I'm hoping someone here won the 1st Jack Boniface page from X-O #4... but no one has said so yet. :hope:

I'm REAL curious to see what art lies behind the Jack Boniface panel, on that page.
It looks like Ryder inked the published bottom panel, but I wonder if the original image (with or WITHOUT Jack) was by Ralph Reese...

Some nice pages and a strong auction for some key artwork. I suspect some of the mentioned unclaimed artwork is going to a good home.

Super-congrats on the Harbinger 7 final page... I agree that it's probably the "next best thing" to having a pre-Unity Harbinger cover.
It's more iconic than the cover to Harbinger 7, for sure. (Yes, the graveyard is sad, but the flying Mustang with surviving renegades is awesome!)

The thing this page reminded me is how much The Matrix has in common with Magnus/Rai stories.
I'm convinced that the Wachowski brothers (at the time) were Valiant fans... but they never said so.

Yes, a great page that didn't look like much at first.
It's a Magnus 0 page, which is important by being ANY page from Magnus 0... but that page is literally the "birth of Tekla".
It's the moment that Waiter-Robot 23 (or would that be Waitress-Robot?) gains sentience.
W-23 becomes Tekla in Magnus #3, and Tekla was very important to Magnus and Rai stories.
Plus the first couple of panels include Magnus, so the title character appears as well.

Historic page... hiding in a group of historic pages. :thumb:

Anyone come up with a complete tally list of art and prices paid for each? Reminds me of the Harbinger 1 art auction as to the level of bidding and pre-snipe action. Really seemed to breath some life into the market. Although I miss the days of $9.99 pages.

Maybe this will loosen some more art up from some dusty collections. Or maybe even pry some pages from some of those hard-headed Valiant art hoarders that don't ever let anything go.

Jay

Edit: Added a list with prices and correct page numbers for those that were mislabeled and a total:

3/2/14 Valiant Art Auction list

Solar 11, Page 20----------$382.99
Harbinger 9, Page 11------$257.00
Harbinger 9, Page 15------$280.00
Harbinger 7, Page 22------$425.00
Magnus 23, Page 1--------$239.49
Magnus 12 , Page 35------$580.99
Magnus 12, Page 13-------$530.56
Magnus 12, Page 8--------$665.00
Magnus 0, Page 18--------$242.50
Magnus 0, Page 4---------$765.00
Rai 0, Page 14------------$322.76
Rai 0, Page 21------------$322.76
Shadowman 6, Page 4----$213.50
X-O 4, Page 11------------$1130.00

Total: $6,357.55

Magnus, it certainly looks like your Magnus 0, page 18 was the steal of the auction, just in comparison to the other prices paid.
