This also finally completed my run... I had stopped reading Shadowman at #35 back in the day, and only with the 2012 return did I start pursuing the last 8 issues.

Yard sale find last Saturday: X-O Manowar 1-6 for $10.

The seller was a former investor, said he bought 1-10 back in the day hoping they'd be worth something and stored them bagged/boarded. He never read 'em.
Best part, the bag/board for issue 4 contained 2 copies :D

Next morning went to a local antique market with my wife and found a low-grade Strange Tales Annual # 2 (1963) for 50 cents.

There are many good deals to be found with a little perseverance and luck.

Got my results from 4 books from CGC today. There are high points and low points.

Incredible Hulk 324 - First Grey Hulk - 9.0. I am super surprised at this grade. This book, I thought, was a 9.6-9.8. Huge bummer. Grrr. I lost money on this one as I paid $15 for the raw because it was so sharp. This is not a VF/NM book. It's a NM+ book, or at least it was when I submitted it.

Solar 10 - 9.6. I never get a 9.8, but I'm still happy it's not any lower. It's a $100 book.

Comic Primer 2 - First Grendel - 9.0. I'm pretty pleased with this one. I think I paid $65 for the book, and now it's probably a $200 book. There were a couple of spine stresses, so this was not surprising. It's funny this book got the same grade as the 324 because the books were night and day when compared to each other.

Incredible Hulk 449 - First Thunderbolts - 9.8. Awesome! This is probably a $180 book, and pretty warm right now.

So, all in all $510 in books. Cost basis is about $180-200, so still a good day. I'll be selling the Solar 10.

A hot day! I just got another invoice listed as shipped.

Super Mario Bros. Special Edition #1 - 9.6 - approx. $75 book or so.
3 copies of Macross #1 (first Robotech) - 9.6 - approx. $150 per book or so.

Super happy about the Macross book. It's a scarce book to find, and really tough in high grade. I was hoping I would get at least 1 9.8, but they were never bagged or boarded, so I got very lucky with these. The books cost me $.25 each or less, as I purchased them in bulk. $525 in books, with a cost basis of $120 or so. A very good day on these ones. I'm selling 2 of the Macross books.

I don't like to post a lot of books I get (because 99% of them are to sell at my booth), but I was stoked to find 2 Flash Annual #2s for cover.

I can't believe this thread has gone on so long.
Its pretty neat to look at when it was starting and seeing Dino, Dan, and myself searching for books.
Its also interesting to see what is considered a good deal at different times.

My wife made me go to a kids consignment sale. When I got there, I saw they had comics. I got these for $2 each.

Yeah, but Robert Downey, Jr. looks like Tony Orlando.

Kind of pre-emptive, but a friend of mine shops at a comic shop in High Point and was talking to the owner about Valiant and said he has a friend (me) who was really into them. The dealer laughed dismissively and said he had four longboxes of Valiants in storage that I could have for 50 cents a book!

Going to check them out sometime next week!

Wish me luck!

Guy I work with brought a box of about 100 comics and asked for $10 for them. I bought them without really looking at the because I saw some early 90's Iron Man issues that looked pretty neat. Apart from a lot of great reading stuff (Byrne Alpha Flight, Micronauts, ROM, later run Power Man and Iron Fist) and some nice flippage that included:

Star Was #107
First Deadpool mini
Death of Superman TPB sealed with Action #1 reprint.

I'll give you $12 for those 3, you keep the other 97 books. :thumb:
