My on one aspect: no way preview appearances will become a thing that values a book because there will be no way to determine which book with the preview in a VEI book was the first published since every book in a given month has the same damn preview in it. Three books released the same day all have the same preview in them. Which one would be credited as first? Because of this dilemma, I predict preview appearances will be of no increased value.

And as a collector and reader, I would never consider a preview as a 'real' first appearance.

Personally, I'm hoping they aren't going to end up being the same character, but I can see it being a tempting idea to write. There should be plenty of other Geomancers crop up between now & whenever that one in RAI was imprisoned.

Right. But we do know that kid isn't the first Geomancer past, present, or future.

BTW, I have been loading up on books that have VEI first apps that weren't in VH1, especially Divinity, new Geomancers, Kay McHenry (doh!), Darpan and Gravedog. Do we have a good list of those somewhere?
