And as a collector and reader, I would never consider a preview as a 'real' first appearance.lorddunlow wrote:My on one aspect: no way preview appearances will become a thing that values a book because there will be no way to determine which book with the preview in a VEI book was the first published since every book in a given month has the same damn preview in it. Three books released the same day all have the same preview in them. Which one would be credited as first? Because of this dilemma, I predict preview appearances will be of no increased value.

Is Rai 7 a key book due to a Geomancer first appearance?
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

I'm wondering if The Valiant #4 is. New Geomancer, not sure it's the same character in Rai #7.StarBrand wrote:Is Rai 7 a key book due to a Geomancer first appearance?

Personally, I'm hoping they aren't going to end up being the same character, but I can see it being a tempting idea to write. There should be plenty of other Geomancers crop up between now & whenever that one in RAI was imprisoned.StarBrand wrote:jmatt wrote:I'm wondering if The Valiant #4 is. So the Rai 7 is the first 4001 geomancer ... does that mean The Valiant 4 is the first present-day geomancer?
Valiant is the son of the New Universe.

Not really. Buck was first "present day", then Kay.StarBrand wrote:So the Rai 7 is the first 4001 geomancer ... does that mean The Valiant 4 is the first present-day geomancer?
(Did we ever get confirmation that his name was Buck?)

I meant that little kid that was flying around Gilad like a june bug near the end of TV 4. Still not sure exactly who it is.greg wrote:Not really. Right. But we do know that kid isn't the first Geomancer past, present, or future.depluto wrote:I meant that little kid that was flying around Gilad like a june bug near the end of TV 4. Roger that. But it looks to me like that kid will be the current Geomancer going forward. I just worded it funny. I meant to say TV 4 is the first appearance of that particular kid. I think.

Yes, and who knows how long... that kid is from at least 1,000 years in the future... so the Earth has already chosen them for a future role, is this an "immortal" Geomancer?depluto wrote:Roger that. But it looks to me like that kid will be the current Geomancer going forward.

BTW, I have been loading up on books that have VEI first apps that weren't in VH1, especially Divinity, new Geomancers, Kay McHenry (doh!), Darpan and Gravedog. Do we have a good list of those somewhere?

I'd add livewire (the VEI version is totally different) and maybe Ion and Hidden moon.
Don't forget the Monk, the vine and Shan.
And most importantly, Cronos.
I think all of these will be movie characters.

Harbinger Wars #1 could end up being big. Those with the Round 1 VFVSS should be very happy.Elveen wrote:I posted one somewhere.depluto wrote:BTW, I have been loading up on books that have VEI first apps that weren't in VH1, especially Divinity, new Geomancers, Kay McHenry (doh!), Darpan and Gravedog. I have confirmation. Back in the early 90s Kingpin Comics told me Eternal Warrior 6 was the death of Uncle Buck. They were tight with Valiant. How's that for confirmation? Back in the early 90s, there was no Geomancer who was crushed by the Boon before we meet Kay from VEI.
