I've never really checked mine out that closely to see if one is glossy or not. I don't seem to remember anyone of them standing out differently though.

I remembered I did pick up a glossy copy and sold it to one of the members here. I forgot who, but it's pretty rare as I have yet come across another copy.

Quesada signed Ninjak Print
Quesada signed X-O Print
X-O Replica ring
Velluto signed Bloodshot Print
Quantum & Woody Promo Comic Shop Folded Poster
Apparently Unknown VSS (or Acclaim I guess) Harbinger and Master Darque one shots
And I've got a whole HUGE binder full of Valiant crapola including postcards, card sets, chase cards and other stuff including COAs (like for that X-O ring)

I'm new to posting on this board so have I just babbled or is this cool stuff?

Theres another thread I made around here somewhere where I tried to list all the other valiant items, I'll see if I can find it. This was meant to be just for misc. books but I think we're going to have to include everything else here too.
Do you have a master darque signed book? do you have a scan?...whats in the binder :D

I've got to say - I wouldn't mind hearing the story on that X-O ring. This is the first I've heard of it.

I've got a plethora of Valiant stuff in my V binder.

COAs for my signed authentic prints, some promo posters that are still factory folded, the card sets including chase cards, promo cards (lots of these), uhhh...oh god I think Deathmate cards and chase cards.

Several Valiant postcards that I came across somehow over the years... lots of crap like that.

I think I also took doubles of the VU series I cards and made the large "cover image" to the Unity issues using the cards and a couple of magnetic photo pages....

Because I don't know what other books are avaliable in newsstand form
I have a MAGNUS #64 newsstand edition. Maybe some others but I forgot to check.

My best guess is Valiant went with newsstand distribution with the books cover dated April 1995. The reason I pick that date is because that is the first time the UPC box appeared on the front cover of Valiant comics. Before that, there was no box in the lower left corner. That would put it a couple of months before Birthquake.

Did all Valiant titles see newsstand distribution?

Or was it select titles?

I think they did it with the core titles that were left after Acclaim axed all the low selling titles like Psi-Lords, Geomancer, Harbinger, Dr. Mirage, Secret Weapons, Rai, etc. These issues were returnable so any remainder copies that made it into the secondary market were small, IMO. The only issues of them around would basically be the ones that were actually sold. Unless there was a program where these were put in a plastic bag with several other comics for bargain resale that I've seen in some department stores during the 90's.---Steve

So, when it came time to re-stock new issues, what ever was left from the previous month was destroyed? Or sent back?

I just don't remember see Valiants at newsstand.

Not that I looked.

Newstand issues were sent back to the publisher - at least I know this to be true with Marvel. The advatnage to retailers of Newstand is that the Waldenbooks or 7-11s could send back the unsold copies for a refund or credit while the direct market books have to be eaten by the retailers if unsold. I'd guess that the Valiants were the same way.

I'd love to know about anything thats not on this list. Those prints sound especially interesting.

You HAVE to post a scan of you magnetic photo page of unity covers!

In addition to the Bloodshot 46 newstand edition, I have
these newstand Valiants in my collection:

Bloodshot 40,41,48
Solar 52

(always buying others if anyone has them for sale/trade)

And yeah unsold newstand books (and magazines) are credited back to the retailer, that way they only pay for what they sell. Usually, the covers
are striped and sent back while the rest of the book is thrown away/destroyed.
