Looking to get into the new Universe titles

Post by jco5055 »

Hey guys, well Valiant was honestly the first real comics I ever read. When I was really young, like somewhere between 4-6 years old, my parents used to take my brothers and I to this supermarket and they had comics packs for cheap, like maybe $1 got you a 5 pack of comics. Valiant was always included. I was born in January '91 to give some context of when this was occurring.

Growing up my favorite two characters from Valiant were definitely XO and Shadowman.

I am now interested in getting into the new Valiant Universe. I'm not an AVID comic reader, meaning I usually like to only read one or two titles mainly from each company, though if there were more that were equally good I'll read more. So I don't know if I should ask here or start a new topic, but what are the best titles in the new Universe? And you don't have to include my previous tastes/favorite characters at all.

Thanks.

The first arcs (4 or 5 issues) of each title are $9.99 as trade paperbacks, so you can try out a few titles relatively cheaply to see which you like best.

X-O, Harbinger, Bloodshot, and Archer & Armstrong came out first. Rai is visually stunning and set in the year 4001, so you could read it any time (first, if you like).

Then whichever titles you like best will lead you to the 2nd trade paperback.

...and Welcome! :)

Gregs got good advice there - go for a 1st volume trade of whatever strikes your fancy best, they're a great intro price & all good reads! XO, Harbinger, Archer & Armstrong, RAI, Dr. Mirage & Shadowman are especially good starter books.

Welcome to the boards! Canadians are nice here, don't listen to Dunlow when he shows up!

Welcome to the boards. It's fun here as long as you steer clear of the Canadians like MarkRoseHFX and grendeljd above me here. He's evil I tell you! Evil!
