I remember it like it was interesting...

Post by Spylocke »

I was in junior high when I read my first Valiant comic which was Rai and the Future Force #9. It was advertised in Wizard so I thought I'd give it a shot. I thought Rai had an interesting look as did Spylocke (obviously a favorite of mine) so I stuck with it. From there I went to Shadowman and H.A.R.D. Corps then branched out to the other titles but didn't consistently pick them up due to my limited budget.

I was drawn to the tight continuity and unpretentious art as well as the more mature stories. This is when Image started and the style of comics changed to pretty pictures without the writing to back them up. Valiant was refreshingly different. Characters died and didn't come back and there seemed to be an ambiguity with characters that made things interesting. Shadowman was the first character that made me wonder if he actually had powers or was just crazy.

I was thrilled to see Valiant make a comeback and I've been really impressed so far. I didn't think I'd like Harbinger as much as I did and now I'm looking to to get hard copies of the digital comics I bought via comixology. There are not many comics I think are worth buying twice.

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.

In addition, I'm right.
