New reader, love the universe old and new
I'm new to the Valiant world, having been introduced to it before the relaunch. I didn't know anything about it back in its heyday - I pretty much was limited to comics like Sandman, having been turned off by the whole superhero/busty woman art that was prevalent then. Had I known about Valiant, I would have gotten into it. Harbinger, Dr. Mirage, Rai, Archer & Armstrong...all groundbreaking in their own ways.
I'm fortunate that I have access to all of the early Valiant (thanks Sonic Dan!). I've read all the pre-Unity and Unity Harbinger and am most of the way through the entire Unity series. (Love the shared universe concept.) Outside of Unity, I've read some Rai, Archer, and Dr. Mirage (Carmen's a great character - fairly ground breaking for that time period, kinda like Buffy. Yep, I'm a Buffy fan, even though it jumped the shark.)
Absolutely love the new Valiant. Reading all of the books. The story lines and art are superb overall. As a company, Valiant is doing what no one else is - all of their books are well done; not a bad one in the bunch. I like that they are taking their time in telling the stories and letting us get into the motivations of the characters. For me, the devil is in the details, and I prefer to read between the lines. They also do a good job of writing cross-gender and making it appealing without pandering. Harbinger is my fav still, followed by Archer. Great writing. I'm really looking forward to Shadowman and seeing what happens with Eternal Warrior and the new Geomancer.
Looking forward to the discussions! Been lurking for a bit then decided I couldn't NOT chime in.

Welcome! Glad you like the new books! Most of the old books are good through Chaos Effect, after that the quality on most titles dropped off.

In addition, I'm right.

Thanks everyone, and lol, Dan.
Excited to pick up the new releases Wednesday. Anyone doing the #walkinwednesday competition? The prize is supposed to be the best one yet. Any ideas?

There are a few tweeters in this bunch, most of us do the #walkinwednesday and a few do the #fanartfriday too.
I won the last #walkinwednesday, and I got an XO Gold #1... Can't imagine what this weeks prize will be - maybe the pair of XO 5 interlocking covers, or possibly the Valiant Black issue?
I like to draw stuff... http://grendeljd.deviantart.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: New reader, love the universe old and new
I've been doing the contests, too. Did the first #walkinwednesday for the Archer & Armstrong. I was thinking the Valiant Black originally, but I dunno. Is that considered better? It's always fun to win stuff, but it's just fun to partake in such an active fan community.grendeljd wrote:Welcome!!
