Started reading Valiant this year...
... but my husband was bugging me for years before that.
He is a big fan of XO and had most of the issues. Whenever we dropped by a store, he would always search in the bargain bins, or whatever, looking for back issues of this company that no longer existed. I knew of this Barbarian guy, who was transplanted from the past into the present, with this super weapon... it seemed pretty cool. A man misplaced in time, as well as technology.
Never got around to reading it.
Then BAM-- 2012 hits!
He's shoving these comics in my face! I gotta read them before the reboots/relaunch -- whatever you call it! So- I manage to read...I dunno...pretty far into the classic series, I couldn't put it down!
XO#1 hits stores-- and by the time I hit the last panel, I'm in love all over again!
My favorites of the new Valiant is hard to say-- each one is so good!
... so I am trying to read the classics before the latest issue come out in the mean time
So far I've been reading the old XO & Archer & Armstrong (almost done- like 3 issues left).
I plan on reading Shadowman next as well as Bloodshot.
Figured I might as well start my first post on the forums after participating in #fanartfriday!
I had a really good time interacting with other fans, so I figured to take it to the boards

Re: Started reading Valiant this year...
I'm not sure if he registered He knows of it for sure... I'm sure he'l get around to it eventually
We have the hardbacks of XO... he's trying to finish out the singles of the classics...
but if I had it my way... I'd wait till everything came out in trades!
Once I start reading I can't stop!
Especially now... I get to the last page and I'm shocked-- really was that it?!
I'm so impatient!
The sneak previews on the net don't help any either!

Welcome to the boards! I couldn't agree with you more with how short the stories especially for Bloodshot #2 and the preview pages.
There' a discussion about this in the spoiler section of Bloodshot #2

I've bugged my wife about reading what I love about Valiant Comics since our marriage and she couldn't be bothered with it.
Wife is more into Us Weekly! Star! People! OK! In Touch! (Gossip Magazines)

I think it helps that I am artistically inclined -- I'm a sucker for a good story and awesome artwork... so I find a lot of inspiration from comics nowadays
The only time I read a gossip mag is at the doctors office or at the checkout lane!
Wooo! spoilers! I may drop by and check out that thread- when I get desperate!

Re: Started reading Valiant this year...
On a tangent, my wife subscribes to US Weekly for $20/year for 52 issues.
She tells me that it takes her 6x longer to read her weekly magazines than my a copy of Bloodshot #2.
(Note: both cover price of US Weekly and Bloodshot #2 are $3.99)
I will need to tell her that I'm a sucker for a good story and awesome artwork. LOL

My wife does and says the same, but my response is I save, re-read and may even be able to resell my comics. She just tosses hers in the recycle bin when she's done.drmirage wrote:On a tangent, my wife subscribes to US Weekly for $20/year for 52 issues.

Welcome, and congrats on the #fanartfriday win - well deserved!! Always great to hear of other married couples both into comics... My wife & I both enjoy comics, to different degrees - I am deeply addicted while she just likes a more limited range of the higher quality/all-time classics.
