My time with Valiant.

Post by manga4life »

I never cared for the Valiant of old and pretty much avoided it like the plague due to all of my money being invested in Amazing Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, and X-Men at the time, and to be honest.....none of the Valiant books looked good to me and I just had zero interest in being a part of it all. My love for Valiant now is because of the current titles that are being produced and how good the stories have been so far, the art has been stellar too and I'm getting this "warm" feeling inside of me when I go to the comic book store to pick up a new Valiant book, I haven't had this feeling since I started buying Crossgen Comics with the launch of their #1 issues. I was a massive Crossgen fan and loved the company inside and out and this Valiant launch has been the closest thing to that feeling I've felt since then, and that's a HUGE thing for me to say because of how much I cherished that feeling back when Crossgen was producing comics.

I've absolutely fallen in love with Valiant over the past 2 months and I can honestly say that as long as these books don't crash and burn that I'l be there every step of the way and I am 100% thrilled that they're not tied to the previous continuity and that they're starting over from scratch because if they were a continuation I probably wouldn't buy them (no offense to fans of the previous Valiant). I just like a nice clean slate of it when diving into comics and the fact that it's not even the same Valiant company that owns these characters makes it even easier for me to treat these characters as new and the company as a brand new publisher. I can't wait to see where all these great titles bring us over the next couple of years and I really do hope Valiant expands upon them with more and more books, but not too many because my wallet will hate me.

It's nice to have found a new home and a new favorite indy publisher, especially since Crossgen is dead and this company is bringing back so many Crossgen-esq feelings for me. Valiant, you have my support!

Welcome - plenty of fandom for old around here (but many of us for new, too).

Don't be afraid of much of the old stuff. Most of the best stuff is findable for cover - or way less. Much of the expensive stuff are crazy variants, and... uh... dreck?

But enjoy.

Plenty of dead universe love to spread around!

In addition, I'm right.

Yeah, I won't be visiting the old Valiant, but instead I have my sights set on the new Valiant and everything they will be releasing in upcoming months! I can't wait to see more and more come out and to watch their success build as they go, it's a true joy to watch a new publisher/company flourish from the beginning.

I signed up a month or so ago and never posted until today, mainly because I post over at CBR and haven't really had the time to take on another major forum but I figured what the heck, especially since I know Bugsysig from CBR and he shot me an invite a while back.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

CrossGen. Nice.

Welcome to the boards. I think it will be good for us to have someone who hasn't read the old stories. Your enthusiasm for the new comics is inspiring.

Welcome. Glad to hear you are liking the new books. I know you're not interested in the older material, but there is a lot of great reading with the earlier books.

Welcome. It'll be nice to hear the opinions of someone who didn't read the original stuff -- we Valiant old-timers will get to see it through new eyes.
