To the faithful many...
Hola folkses. I've been lurking here like a mutant cave creature for ages (well, for about six months or so...which is an age...if you're an infant) an thought I'd actually register and say howdy and hello.
So, not much to my story, truth be told, but here goes: like many my age, I was but a wee lad of tween years when Valiant first did launch. I actually first kicked it off with some of the licensed fare. Yes, believe it or not,my first Valiants were not tales of space faring men of war, or universe-spawning men of the atom, but rather Italian plumbers in 'shroomy kingdoms. Truth be told, when I first saw advertisements in those Nintendo pages for Magnus, I had no real interest whatsover in the line. But then came Solar and that seemed different, more relevant, modern...and so I picked it up on a whim, with what little allowance I had leftover from my small pile of Archie and Nintendo books, which themselves had started to be replaced by various X-titles...
I loved that book, still do; though I would go on to pick up other Valiant titles, they were all more casual dalliances from Solar that I loved. Solar, whose entry into comics was infinitely more adult, with his origin twisting at first through (what was for my young mind then) a convoluted knot of time lines and universes, but was for me my first touch of truly adult story telling. Ah, I love you, Solar. Then came Unity, which had me from the tagline. And equally great it was, but sometime thereafter things fell short of their initial concept, and stresses on my (OK, my mother's) pocket made me pare down to basics. For them most part, Valiant in general, even Solar, became not staples but luxuries, and then soon after Valiant was no more.
Having always harbored a love for the line, perhaps more in concept than execution, I found myself filled with excitement at the prospect of these properties in different hands, at perhaps a more mature time. The elements are in place for this seed to grow into a forest, and I stand eagerly in wait of first bloom.

I don't really know why, but my first thought as a reply to your post was: "We bid thee welcome."

Welcome aboard. I can't say I ever read Valiant pre-Magnus, so you got me beat.

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.
In addition, I'm right.
