Instant Collection!
I'm a former collector, who recently got his collection back!
My son and I used to go out every weekend with our list of comics we were looking for. We searched the "Bargain Bins" and Sales, end of the year, etc...We did this from the time he was 5, until he was 12. We have 13 boxes of comics. The plan was to collect for fun, and then when he was ready to go to college, we would sell the collection, and use the money towards his living expenses, etc...That was all fine & dandy until his mother & I decided to divorce. She sited the collections my son and I had as assets. So, I gave them to HIM, free & clear, but they were excluded from the settlement. Well, he decided to join the USMC, and use the GI Bill to pay for his tuition. While he is serving he gave me a bunch of "Stuff" to hang onto for him, including 13 boxes of comics! I went right to the 3 marked Valiant, which has a complete collection of every valiant Universe issue made, with a few exceptions. (Red Unity!) I also have a complete collection of Gold Key Magnus & Solar, and a Pretty Darned Good sampling of Dell/Gold Key/Whitman Turok. About 80%.
So, while my son serves over seas, protecting Freedom, (and the Free Flow of Oil,) I'm home re-reading these CLASSICS, and remembering the Great Times we had collecting these Boxes of Treasures.
Semper Fi, & Semper Vi!!!
(Vi is supposed to be short for Valiant
