Cyberstrike's Valiant story
It started with Unity #0 a free book that the comic book store I was
going to at the time (the store has since went under) had on it's counter. I asked what it was about "it's Valiant Comics first crossover" the clerk told me. It was free so I figured what the hell I read it and was hooked and I then set out to collect the entire Unity story (and added extra incentive was the first half featured an interlocking cover by Frank Miller)
shorty after Unity was finished Jim Shooter left the company and while the books were good they weren't great anymore.
I went on to follow Shooter and company to DEFIANT and Broadway and to be perfectly honest I always perfered those companies to Valiant.
After Harbinger #25 I pretty much quit reading Valiant and only really collected them until money problems forced me to moved on.
I came back briefly for Trinity Angels during VH2, but little else really apealed to me in the era other than Unity 2000 and that was mainly due to Jim Starlin's artwork.
While I have fond memories of Unity and trying to find the first 10 issues of Solar: Man of the Atom most of Valiant is a bit of a blur to
me and I had to sell about 1/2-3/4 of my comics about a year ago including all my Valiant comics (except for my Harbinger trade and
my Solar: Man of the Atom-Alpha and Omega hardcover)

So you're saying that you don't want to buy things back . . .Cyberstrike wrote:95% of what I sold I didn't want anymore and what I did want to keep thatleonmallett wrote:Welcome aboard. Sad to hear that you had to sell your books. Do you plan on re-building the collection?
got sold are books that are pretty much cheap.
or that you sold things and you can buy them back cheap but you are not going to . . .
or you are going to buy things back, but only the cheap books . . .
or you want to buy everything back, but you want to make it seem like it's not important to you so you can get a better price . . .
or that you don't have room for comics in your life because your girlfriend thinks they are stupid and she threatens you with destroying them every time you get into an argument and you have to pretend that comic collecting isn’t geeky and you lie and say that they are an investment for your future together and you only collect comics because you love her and she just needs to realize that so you can both be happy . . .
. . . or none of the above . . .

I'm currently planning on getting back into the comics that I was reading
(Fallen Angel, Noble Causes, Rex Mundi, Transformers: Stormbringer, Transformers: Escalation, and all of the various Transformers: Spotlight issues) before I was forced into comic book exile.
But lately I've been remembering how fun some of Valiant Comics were
I've been thinking about buying the Unity crossover and BWS's run on Archer & Armstrong and various issues, arcs, and runs of
The Eternal Warrior, Solar, Shadowman, Magnus, and Rai.

All good choices. If you never read all the pre-unity books, you can't go wong - every title and every issue was really really good.Cyberstrike wrote:I'm currently planning on getting back into the comics that I was reading
