Lionheart is believed to be the origin of the name 'Leonard' if I am not mistaken. I take from that that leon is derived from lion. Of course lions are lazy and send the lady lionfolk out to do the work...which sounds about right....

I see where the leo = lion

and nard = heart. Well, better than nard = testicles....

Are you kidding me? If this was the olden days and my tribe named me Lion Balls I would have to be the biggest, baddest mofo around. There would be all kinds of people wanting to kiss my converse.
"Sho'nuff"

Your quote reminded me of Monster Squad. What a classic movie.

So is the "kiss my converse" it just went with the "being a badass" rant.

I'd always figured that most of the current English names were derived from their French counterparts.

You know, becuase France conquered England.

With such great kings as Richard (ree-shard') le Troise and Louis Premiere.

And let us not forget King Ralph.

Neil is actually a derivation of Niall, an old Scots name.

I think I'll legally change the spelling of my name to Niall.

Nah - some A-H will just mis-pronounce it...

  :P

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

It is never too late. In fact, your picked a good time to get interested in VALIANT books. You can pick up back issue fairly inexpensively and the release of the new Harbinger hardback means that some new stories may be on the way.

Whilst sorting out some books into their right places in runs to be read (and I am determined to read every VH1 story...), I found I have some issues of Punx. Not looking forward to those, but I won't criticise until able to do so from a position of informed opnion. Thing is, I don't really remember buying them...

They could have been thrown in a shipment that you got from one of the stellar members we've got here, for free.

Have you had many board transactions?

Don't laugh. Over the years I have a fair few books that I have bought, thinking I didn't have them, only to find them in my collection. And I regard my memory as pretty good, as do my partner and colleagues. maybe i do have comics Alzheimer's.... :|
