Another Valiant Return!
Or another return to Valiant fandom, more accurately, but that doesn't sound anywhere near as catchy as a subject line.
I was in high school back when all the original hype around Valiant was raging, and really didn't care to check it out -- they're popular now, I thought, but it won't last. Sadly, I was right, although I would end up buying a good portion of the Valiant Universe before I was done.
Amid all the hype, I found a Unity set priced at about $40, which was in the vicinity of cover price, so I decided to check it out, and was completely hooked. X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Eternal Warrior, Archer and Armstrong...
It had probably been a good ten years since I'd read any of the Valiant books when a friend of mine found X-O on bittorrent for download, and got it for me. A good chunk of the Valiant Universe is apparently available for those who don't have complete collections and want to read all the stories.
I, not having easy access to my old backissues (which I still have, but scattered about and in storage, and it's by no means a complete collection), have read up to the beginning of Unity on the titles that I have available to me, and that's what's gotten me interested again and brought me here. Waiting on Magnus and Archer and Armstrong before I can finish reading Unity in its entirety, just at the moment.
Anyway, that's what brings me here. Hi, all!

It never ceases to astonish me....almost 15 years after the fact....at how good Unity was, and how THAT crossover was responsible for so much (positive) attention to Valiant.
Never ceases to amaze me.
I'm just glad I was around when it came out. And I got my Unity #0's for free. *SQUEE* didn't save me a Unity #1, however, and I didn't get my damn copy UNTIL OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!
Jerkoff retailers.
