How I started reading Valiant.

I started collecting Spiderman and other comics in the early '80. Valiant came to my attention when the local comic store recommended Magnus Robot Fighter #1. I really liked the book, but didn't buy it regularly until I readed about Unity. I bought several other Magnus issues just before Unity 0. I read that book and couldn't get enough of the story. I started buying every new valiant comic I could find. Shadowman quickly became my favorite character. The one thing that standed out about Valiant was the detailed story of the conection between the future and the present. The continuity of the timeline as laid out in Rai #0 was unlike anything else I had ever read. I even won a gold #0 of Archer & Armstrong at Dragon Con in Atlanta in '93 because I dressed up in a outfit I called Captain Valiant. You can see why I choose that name as my site user name

. Comic book price increases and my renewed interest in Star Wars forced me to drop buying Valiant after the Choas Effect. I still bought a few issues here or there as I found them in the cheap boxes at conventions. This year I went back and read what I had so now I am buying up all those books I missed. I have even gotten some of the Acclaim relaunch mess. I wish I could get the whole Unity 2000 story to see exactly what Shooter was going to do to fix the whole mess. If anyone could do it he could. Him leaving valiant was the point things seemed to start going south. I still enjoyed stuff after that and since. I hope that one day the valiant (VH1) ship can sail again. Here's a link to the plot for Unity 2000 including the missing three issues. It's in an Adobe file, (hopefully everything is still there).

Amen to that brother. It took DC and Marvel decades to build the history that Valiant accomplished IN A SINGLE ISSUE.
