Oh, Just Another Valiant Story

My story aint nothing special youngster but folks here parts seem to want one so here goes...

When I came back to reading comics a month ago, I found myself really upset with the current state of Marvel and DC for a lot of reasons. AXIS! Man, after the last issue I almost used the event comics to wipe my butt with for some return on my investment but I decided that I didn't want the ink on my butt hole.

I have always enjoyed art and action stories so while I suddenly felt old I didn't want to just give up. More than anything I wanted to find comics that were worth thinking about and would lead me to want to post positive things rather than wallow in a flood of negativity like has happened to fans of other companies posting elsewhere.

Comics are supposed to be good and they are supposed to leave me happy.

So I decided to look for something better and began scanning over the holiday sales at Comixology for indie titles I hadn't heard of. Low, I spied this collection thing called Harbinger Wars from some bunch called Valiant and I bought it along with my miserable looking pull of titles from the big two. I had never heard of it didn't have hope for it but what the heck it couldn't be worse than anything else in my lot, right?

OMG... I found myself confronted with a darn good book from start to finish that did everything I had been wanting from the big two in spades. It was three beer theater rather than a half mug.

Loved the story, art, the more fleshed out characters, fact there was story resolution as well as hooks for ongoing it was just awesome. I put it next to AXIS and flipped through the two comparing them just to educate myself on a good event vs a bad one.

After that in a nutshell, I dropped a bunch of big two titles, picked up several Valiant collections at Comixology and was suddenly as happy as I had ever been with comics again.

Next it was just finding a spot to chat over the books with other fans so I lit out from over yonder like a bum scalded poodle and found myself here, well somehow. Now hopefully we can have some fun chatting over comics.

See you around.

You have found a great community here. I welcome you and hope you enjoy the company here as well as the amazing product Valiant puts out. They truly care about their fans as much as they care about putting out the highest quality of books. I highly recommend getting to a show or convention where VEI is set up and getting to meet the creators and executives behind the best publisher in the industry.
