Record price for Doctor Solar 1?

Post by nycjadie »

Yesterday, a Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom 1 CGC 9.4 sold at Heritage for $6600 including the buyer's premium. This looks to be a Heritage record, and I believe it might be a record for the book. I also believe this might be the highest grade of this issue sold at Heritage.

A 9.2 sold in July 2019 for $2340.

A 9.0 sold in June 2019 for $1440.

According to the census, there are 8 9.4s and 1 9.6.

I'm pretty surprised at this price given how many there are. However, it seems to have been a long time since a 9.4 went to auction.

Congrats to the buyer and seller on this one!

The record price is actually from 2007, when the CGC 9.6 sold for $7,500.

This is definitely a record price for CGC 9.4 at $6,600. The prior record for CGC 9.4 was $5,205 in 2018.

I have a few mid-grade CGC copies purchased 10 to 15 years ago.

I don't know how I got my lowest CGC graded copy for $83 shipped in 2018, but I did:

If I could find 10 more at that price, I'd buy them all.

I bought my highest grade one - an 8.0, on ComicLink for $455.

I also bought a 7.0 for $223, but I'm not sure if I still own that one or not. The 8.0 was an upgrade. :thumb:

I quite like the 4.0 price.
