CGC Spinner Rack
This is pretty cool. If I had space to have one of these (well away from any windows, of course), I would totally get one.

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
I had a spinner rack in my teenage years. I don't remember what I kept in it but it wasn't comics.

That is pretty cool! Sure beats wondering what is inside of each of your CGC short boxes all the time.

These are neat, although I already have a rack in my shed not being used!
Do I dare look and see how much shipping to Canada would be?

I went through the checkout, shipping $159 to my Canadian address. Total $528 which means about a $750+ CDN (with taxes) kick in the *SQUEE*!
I'm out!

The shipping is only $60 more though to ship to Canada. I agree these aren’t cheap, but they wouldn’t be cheap to make either....lobo wrote:I went through the checkout, shipping $159 to my Canadian address. Total $528 which means about a $750+ CDN (with taxes) kick in the *SQUEE*!

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
The only time I have seen a spinner rack was at a comic shop and they only kept low budge books on it.
Was this something that stores had? In the 80’s and 90’s I used to buy comics off of racks or shelves in stores grocery stores, and don’t remember ever seeing one of these outside of an LCS.

Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
Spinner racks used to be popular in grocery stores and pharmacies back when comics were distributed in places like that. Since then, they've become a sort of comic culture fad, representing days gone by. I see spinner racks pop up frequently in collection photos on Instagram. This spinner rack is capitalizing on the "memberberries" fad by making slots sized for CGC's. So that way, you too can remember going to the local "Ace Pharmacy" where you bought your comics sheathed in plastic cases.caxiotis wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 8:24:55 pm The only time I have seen a spinner rack was at a comic shop and they only kept low budge books on it.

Like I said above - cool, but in no way 400 bucks worth of cool.

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
Most of the books I bought as a kid were on spinner racks. They are horrible for condition. The books were often pulled forward while still in the slot so that you could see the different books behind them. This made huge spine creases at a specific point in the book. You can often tell if a 1980's book was purchased on the newsstand by looking at that spot.
They also damaged the books in the two places on the bottom of the book where they rested on the wire. Also common damage of the time.
The oldest comic store in Seattle (and one of the oldest in the country, if not the oldest) uses wire racks that are similar to spinner racks for all their new books. Drives me crazy. The same damage is on those books. I won't buy from there despite living only a few blocks away. The books are in terrible condition, and it's not helped as it's a major tourist trap with non-collectors manhandling the books.

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
I finally cleaned up my rack and brought it inside! I haven’t decided what to put on the main shelves, but I want to fill up the smaller slots with PBs!
Turns out I can’t add photos via Tapatalk free version. You’ll just have to trust me that it’s awesome!

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
Most of the hundreds of comics from my childhood in the 70's and 80's came from the spinner rack at Gaddy's Pharmacy in Clinton, NC across from the hospital where Aunt Nancy worked and mama would go every Saturday morning to pick up grandma's medicines after grocery shopping and I had to make my selection quickly because her frozen items were thawing. The grocery store and some convenience stores then had spinner racks too.

Yep. I grew up on spinner racks. I will likely never own one though. They are not nice to comics!

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
Agreed, although I think a spinner rack filled with hardcover TPB's would look pretty awesome chillin' in a collection!

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
I bought an old wire-frame magazine rack (not a spinner) and the slots are wide enough to hold slabs. Pretty good alternative, since it was $15.

Re: CGC Spinner Rack
Here's my rack, you guys made me sign back into my photobucket that I haven't used in years, lol

I'm looking to add more of those little mini digest books to fill out the small slots. I thought maybe I'd put some oddball stuff in the regular sized stuff (I have a foreign Batman for example).
