Lobo's CGC submission thread

Post by lobo »

Well... I haven't done any personal submissions to CGC in almost 10 years(!). But starting this week I'll be getting back the first of what will be hundreds of books that I'm sending in. The first few batches won't have any Valiants yet but I promise to have some nice books coming back. I'll report on them as they come back over the next months/year.

In the meantime check my thread of CGC books that I sent back in 2009: http://www.valiantfans.com/forum/viewto ... 11&t=25865" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hopefully I can duplicate some of that pre-grading success!

Are you noting the newsstand books among these? It's not a solid market yet, but newsstands from about 1984 or newer can have a slight premium for collectors. Newsstand collectors prefer to pay "direct edition" price, but sellers who know the difference can usually find a buyer who will pay a little more.

I always advertise the newsstand 'variant' and sometimes it helps with a small uplift in the selling price.

Cool, I figured you knew to do that, but your big list of results didn't mention it so I wondered if they were all directs or if some might be newsstands unmentioned. :thumb:

EDIT: I see some of the ASM #361 are newsstand... did you edit that, or did I completely overlook it? :lol:

Had it there before, ASM newsstands seem to have a bit of cache on ebay. Some of the NM87s are newsstands but I didn't bother counting how many.

Lobo I see you submitted a new x-men 128, any chance on a high grade annual 2001 from the Morrison run? It is the last issue I need to finish it.

The good news: 3 boxes and 75 slabs from CGC showed up today

The bad news: 11 of those slabs have suffered damage- shattered corners, large cracks, chunks of clear plastic everywhere. The comics look to be unharmed and can be reholdered but this is a major *SQUEE* off. Be calling CGC tomorrow to force a damage claim against Fedex. :!:

I'll list the books when I have time tomorrow...

For the damaged books I put in an immediate claim with CGC. They required pics of the books and boxes to put in a claim with Fedex. CGC will cover the cost of shipping and re-holders, books are already back at CGC. The only cost thus far has been the extra few hours of my time to get this fixed.

I didn't know Predator had a 2nd print, and I'm super curious as to what Siamese pages are!

Google:
Siamese Pages - Bindery defect in which pages are "trimmed long" and are not separated at right hand corner(s) or along right edge. (See "Joined Pages").

I remember those well in the 80s!
