That would be a record for a CGC 9.0, but it's a CBCS book from Comiclink. For both reasons, the sale won't be recorded on GPAnalysis.com.

They don't record Comiclink sales?

No. Comiclink wanted to be selective about which sales they reported, so GPAnalysis said "no".
Selectively reporting sales is market manipulation.

I'll tell you, almost all (non-ebay) auction sales this month have been "interesting." I got bid out on almost every single book I went after, and some of them by 20-30% higher than GPA. Crazy-

Ditto to everything you said I lost on 12 comics I bid on in the comiclink auction

Do you guys like Comic link? I've only explored it, and because of the clunky process and dated design, I haven't done much with it. Because of that, I feel like they miss out on potential sales.

What type of books were you guys bidding on, if you don't mind my asking?

I like them. I've always had great luck finding high grade modern issues at a low price. The one thing I don't like is how they put their sticker on the CGC case. It is very difficult to remove cleanly. If I recall correctly, they ship up to 3 books for $21. Not a bad deal. I usually stay away from high end books on CL because they go for premium prices. The ballers come out for CL auctions.

Was bidding on a total random mix of stuff (Golden/Silver age Archie, Batman, Showcase, Hawkman, Avengers, etc), mostly in the $500-$3000 range. Must be a lot of tax money out there, or frantic buyers, because some of the stuff wasn't that scarce (though it was amusing to see the Hero for Hire that sold for $24,000 go for $11,000, less than a year later). Shows the volatility in high end comics right now.

I think the Batman 171 9.0 went for like $500 more than I expected, and the #181 wasn't too far behind. The Fantastic Four #1 CBCS went for ~15% less than GPA, but still more than I wanted for that particular copy.

I think the last two Comiclink auctions are the first ones in awhile, where I was already out of the bidding 24hrs before most of the books closed. Some were even cheaper to just buy outright on ebay.

Lots of demand, or lots of money out there. Maybe the mass speculators have arrived? Bubble time?

I've always been curious about these auction houses though (CL, MCS, CC, etc) and their "shilling" preventative measures. I almost never see things go for "drastically" lower than they should, and though I would like to think the comic world is a perfect market, you'd at least think that once in awhile an obscure book would go cheap or be missed. Do that many people comb through every listing? CC, MCS, and CL sure don't make it easy to do so, and their interfaces are horrible.

I'm not saying deals aren't to be found, but rarely ever see something go for more than 20-30% off GPA.

I usually only look for golden age crime books or precode horror. And the last 2 auctions the ones I went after went for more than ebay. ....but if you comb through the exchange I have seem some great deals just that I never had the money at the time that I seen them

Those are cool genres. Out of curiosity are you buying slabs, raws, or both?

Ooooffff, another ComicLink auction I struck out on. Was like 0/40. :?

Got 2nd highest bid a handful of times, but for the most part was totally outclassed. Was mostly bidding on the rare stuff, so no idea how high the winners would have gone. No discounts on this month's stuff!!! Good luck guys. Crossing my fingers that things cool off a bit (except on the stuff I am selling, of course

I agree with this, but I would pay a bit more buying from their site than some random person on eBay for the piece of mind that the books will be shipped securely. A lot of bigger books never make it to ebay due to the seller prohibitive practices of ebay and paypal.

That is interesting. $1,500 for a CGC 1.5 Star Wars #1 35-cent variant

I remember when you could buy a CGC 1.5 Amazing Fantasy #15 for $1,500. I guess I'm old now.

This is absolutely insane. JMO, but there are better books to buy for that amount of money.
